hi there! 1,5 weeks ago I purchased a medium classic flap caviar ghw and I just cannot decide whether to keep or not because it is matte and the quilts on the flap itself are so flat. Please share your thoughts.
This is my second bag from chanel. I own a lambskin WOC which is sooo soft and I love it. But I don’t want to worry about wear and tear of this medium CF.

I do not own a caviar classic...but I do beleive that there are variations (because it is a leather) each season as to the texture and softness and matte/ shininess...if you do not like it now, i can gaurentee you you will not like it in the future. it is such an expensive bag to not be thrilled about, so I would suggest returning this one and waiting for a caviar that is a bit "softer" looking?? I think personally that lambskin is a prettier leather, however, I have seen some caviars that are "prettier".

It is a stunning bag, I kept mine in caviar because I want it to last forever and hate the fragility of lamb. The quilts are flatter but that’s how cf are made these days However, if you have your heart set on lambskin, take the plunge! Nothing like resentment and hating the bag- you won’t use.

I would return. My jumbo and medium classic flap are nice and puffy. But the quilts on my small beige clair are definitely flatter. It doesn’t bother me much but there are variations of the bags. Keep looking until you get one you like.

If you have any doubts, return ASAP.

I don't think it looks matte, however I agree that I would prefer puffier quilts. I just love puffy quilts, not to mention they gradually deflate over time. I have a caviar medium CF from earlier this year which is puffier than the one pictured.

I would return it. If those issues bother you now, they’ll bother you down the line, and this is too large a purchase to be unhappy with. I would not be happy either. The quilts are very flat, and the leather looks very dull (not trying to be rude, JMO). Don’t settle!

Do you have any photos for comparison? I’m starting to wonder if my caviar is matte/dull!

Mine is not medium size but small size, which I got earlier this year. I think that batch of caviar leather is pretty puffy and shiny, but pretty stiff. Just an FYI maybe you can return yours and wait for better batch of caviar? It is REV so it will be available year round

IMO the quilts are normal for black caviar bags these days. I feel like in general caviar is more dry and matt over the past few years. The classics are also stitched at the edge so they do look less puffy than seasonal classic flaps in different colours. The bag is beautiful but you really dislike it then you could wait for another but just bear in mind the price might be higher by that time.
