Thank you! Carnelian can def stand out against neutrals. Wish I could see them IRL soon...

Carnelian has different hues and shades as does turquoise, or any natural gem for that matter.

There are some variations of blue with which turquoise can horribly clash. The amethyst is gorgeous, but purple is often limited in terms of color compatibility. Carnelian is far more versatile where contrasting colors are concerned, plus it commands real attention. Very energizing too.

So I'd like to add a quick update to the thread. I ended up ordering the turquoise online and thought I'd get the carnelian at another time. I received the charm today and was so excited to open the package.

However, I was disappointed... The charm is a lot smaller than I imagined. I usually like dainty pieces but for this design, I'd like a little more presence. I wasn't thrilled about the color either. Like one of the ladies said, it clashes with many shades of blues. I tried to attach some quick iphone pics in case anyone is interested, but for whatever reason I can't seem to upload pics. I don't know, I might end up returning it.

Last but not least, I'd like to thank you ladies again for all your suggestions.

Awwwww, I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed. I hope you'll find just the pendant you desire. Perhaps a custom piece from your local jeweler? When all else fails, that's where I turn.

I'm so sorry you're disappointed. I've had that happen a few times when I've ordered online. Just curious, has anyone here heard of and been to the international gem and jewelry shows? I started going to them with my mom as a child and we both get the majority of our jewelry there. If there's one in your area, it might be a good place to look. They happen a few times a year and have everything from $$$$ fine jewelry to loose stones to beads to costume jewelry and accessories.

Thank you both! I have never been to one but Jewelry show sounds fun! I might still stick to Tiffany this time. Will go to a store this weekend to return this and hopefully to try on a few other things:p.
