I have been watching all the beatiful rolex watches psoted here, but I never seriously considered to buy one until now. Bombarded with a myriad of choices of style, size, bezel, chain, dial, and etc, I was very confused. Finally, I decided on 31 Datejust with diamond markers. Today, I happened to drop by a jewelry store (authorized Rolex dealer) and tried on many versions of Datejust. When I finally decided on the combination of ss/yellow gold, jubelee chain, and silver dial (with diamond markers of course), I glanced over to the lady next to me who happened to be placing an order for her choice Rolex. Curiosity got the better of me, and I tried it on myself. Surprisingly, her watch spoke to me, although it cost more. Instead of diamond markers, it has scattered diamonds on the bezel. In adddition, the Roman numeral six is made with diamond speckles (with an additional cost that I cannot justify). Now, I am once again confused and undecided. Please help me choose and let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

They are both beautiful, so tough call!! I have a Rolex like the top only with the newer polished lugs and a silver jubilee dial. It is a few postings before this. I love mine but the new style --bottom pic-- is really nice too. Whatever one you decide, I would get the new style with the heavier bracelet and polished lugs. The top with diamond markers is maybe more classic? Good Luck and keep us posted!!

The second is simply a much more aesthetically pleasing watch, IMO. It isn't just the diamonds on the bezel, but the smooth bezel that makes it so much more appealing to me. I don't care for the diamond markers at all.

Love the look of the scattered diamond bezel but practicality wise, the fluted bezel can withstand scratches better than smooth/dome dial.

I love the roman numerals, but am not crazy about the diamond studded bezel. Love the diamond on the roman numeral six, though! I think I would like a combo of the two - the second dial with the first bezel. I'm not much help, am I?
