While I adore Tiffany and the Tiffany experience...color, clarity and carat size are the only measures for a diamond. You will get so much more for your money if you go to another jeweler you can trust. You pay for that blue box. That said, both rings are gorgeous. If you plan to get a diamond wedding band, I would go for the solitaire. Best wishes for a beautiful life together!

Its been a few years since I’ve done my last TCo engagement ring upgrade but back then, they didn’t have the online “pick your own diamond” feature. Feel free to point me to another thread if it’s been previously discussed but, how does that work? OP, have you called ahead to ensure that both these rings will be there for you to look at? In my experience, each store has their own stock and then an internal computer system where your SA can look through the specs near what you desire/your budget and then bring in rings from other stores for you to consider (usually only 1-2 at a time). This process generally took days/weeks. Since you are traveling for this purchase, I just want to make sure the product is there waiting for you. Good luck deciding (my choice is always the classic solitaire!)

You missed the point. Those are still preferences. A diamond is only a diamond if it is cut well.

Oh, I get the point. You are choosing to argue over semantics (measure vs preference). I stand by my point that the measure of a diamond’s worth is based on the four Cs - clarity, color, carat size and cut. A diamond is only worth what people are willing to pay and most people will not pay very much for a small, cloudy, flawed diamond no matter how well it’s cut.

Wishing the bride-to-be much happiness with one of those beautiful rings!

Hi everyone!Next week I’m going to Portland which has the only one tax-free Tiffany store in the states to purchase my engagement ring. These days I’ve been looking through Tiffany web site day and night and finally found two items just perfectly match both of my budget and my style.

setting: 1.31ct/i/vs2 - 18.400 usd

soleste: 1.02ct/h/vvs2 – 18.500 usd

OP, how did your visit to Tiffany's in Portland turn out?

Hi! I’m in school to become a jeweler and gemologist. Any clarity VS2 or higher is good quality and even J color diamonds will look pretty colorless in a yellow gold setting. I would not worry about the color and clarity specs of these stone, they’re both higher quality than average! Most stores sell I through K or even M color with SI1-I3 clarities. You won’t be able tell the difference between those stones and a D VVS1 without a loupe and a trained eye. Pay attention to the cut polish and symmetry. You’ll want a stone with excellent cut, that’ll give you the most sparkle. I hope you love your ring, whichever you choose!!

I just did a Tiffany True solitaire purchase this way. Selected my size online and then they shipped it to the store for me to try on in person. It was there in 2 days, maybe three? My SA just called me to come in when it got there...

Did you end up purchasing a Tiffany True diamond? If so, please pst photos. I went to Tiffany’s yesterday and fell in love with one but I am debating on the size and color.
