I think number 2 looks better. And it wont overwhelm even if you mix it with other round cut diamonds. All it matters is that they sparkle!

I like #2 because it's 1 diamond (or at least looks that way). I'm not a fan of #1 because it's obviously a cluster of diamonds meant to look like 1.
