I want to make a custom ring for my wife's bday and because her birthstone is Ruby and mine is Peridot I wanted to use both these stones. I wanted to surround the Ruby and write a poem about me protecting her and being by her side. Problem is, I'm not sure if the ring will look good w/ these colors. Am I crazy? which one looks better? should I just scrap this idea all together and do something normal?

I love option two!

I'm a little biased, though. I really don't like halos and the green halo around the ruby makes the ring look like a trendy piece of costume (that you might find in a teen targeted boutique). You know your wife best though and it might really work with her style best.

I love cherry red and spring green combinations. It's very fresh and very pretty.

I don't think the two colors side by side work very well. I think you can use the two stones in a ring, but there needs to be some separation, either by diamonds or metal.

Sorry...I don't think that these colors work very well together. I would pick one or the other and use diamonds as accents. You could have the other colored stone flush set inside of the ring. Of course it would have to very small;)

Do you have a picture of the actual ruby stone you're going to use? I think both of the artist renderings are pretty bad color-wise but I also know that rubies aren't generally that orange-y red shade. I think the ring could be beautiful if done properly. The colors would look different in person and I think they would be much better than what we're seeing here. Add the lovely meaning behind the stones and the ring and I think she would love it.

Personally I prefer the first design for these two stones but instead of having diamonds go down the shank of the ring, I would make it all peridot so it would be more cohesive.

I like the second designe, but not the combination of the two stones together.
Any other options...anyone? I just can't see the ring loking classy..I love the meaning behind it and the idea. The combinations reminds e of the mexican and italian flags...

I like the idea of pink and green, but not red and green...sorry :(

why dont you try a pink sapphire with tsavorites? or pink tourmaline with emerald?

or since you want to use your birthstones, try to find a ruby thats more towards the pink spectrum? it might work better?
