So you think if I ask a seller if she is the original owner I'm being rude? As stated, my reason for this is usually that I want more info on the bag. For example, I was looking for an older Botkier Trigger a few months ago. Since they made them back in 2006 or something like that and then later made them again with lower quality leather, I wanted to try to be as sure as I could that I was looking at an older one. I didn't ask where she bought it.
Is that rude in your opinion?

The way you phrased it, totally. Again, you are buying for a totally reduced price and you want to know stuff that is simply none of your business, where the seller bought it is really none of your business.

If you are looking for a specific item that was produced later, cool, but in this case, you were intrusive with somebody who is clearly a reseller. I mean if you are after the items and you are so concerned, why not buy from the shops? As I said, I buy mainly from shops, if I buy an item 2nd hand and I want more info I have the courtesy to let the seller know why, not just demand in an rude and intrusive manner where seller bought it from.

Seriously, while I hate fakes with a passion, I also hate it if people think they have every right to my personal shopping habits because they MIGHT consider buying an item they couldn't ever afford at retail price. I went through a Hermes phase, a Gucci phase, a Celine and a Balenciaga phase when it came to handbags, mostly just retail shopping, worn once or twice and everything in the description, the amount of questions of where I bought them (dohhhhhh there are not that many authorized retail shops again, usually put it in the description) then the whole questions where I wore it, what I wore with it. Sod it, NO, nobody's business, you are buying the bag, for a lot less than I paid for. Not happy with it, cool, do not buy, go to the shop and pay full retail. I don't mind.

In general, I think the whole resale business is possibly not that great, luxury items are just that, not what anybody needs, but the resale industry makes people think they should have them, even if they can't afford them.

Since you didn't ask where she bought it, why are you bugged about it?

Seriously, if I buy a bag or an item, I am more concerned about the item being real, where the seller got it from, really not my concern or my business, as stated, usually an item that I didn't buy when it was in the shops. I might ask for additional pictures bur if I do so, usually state my reason, if the seller inherited it, made a lucky find in a charity shop, bought it and didn't like it, bought it to resell it, that is really none of my business, as I am interested in the item. I will do due diligence if it is real and usually if I can't authenticate myself pay for authentication for my own peace of mind, but a pointless question as "where did you buy it" followed with claiming I am a serious buyer, a serious buyer would not ask that question.

I collect, I found super bargains for unbelievable prices at car boot sales or estate sales, where people just wanted to get rid of stuff they got from house clearances, not that I would ever part with them, among them Chanel bags and Cartier watches (and yes, got them additionally authenticated, still won't part with them) but if I would part with them (not likely) I would offer the authentication, but how I got them would really not be anybody's business. The fact that I go through a ton of those sales, usually find nothing and once in a blue moon might find the odd item I treasure, and given the time and effort compared to my usual rate for work, not actually such a bargain (again not parting with them because due to finding them, I treasure them much more than anything I found in the shops, but that might just me being weird), but would I want to sell them on (again I don't as I treasure vintage items much more), I'd just go like "OK, find another one then, good luck"

If you are concerned about the leather, ask questions about the leather and close ups

do you have me confused with the OP?
I was not expressing annoyance
When I have asked people if they are the original owner and they say they aren't that is the end of the conversation

Well, opinions differ, I find it intrusive, simply not anybody's business where I shop, people can also just claim they bought from a shop, so not really sure how that will ease minds, if you're worried about receipts being faked but you feel easier about somebody naming a shop, there is no logic behind it.

I found the "buyer's" questions totally impolite

It's an easy question to answer to put a buyer's mind at ease though. Most major cities have a department store that deals with luxury goods - Barney's, Nordies, Holt Renfrew, David Jones, Harrod's. No one's asking you to post a receipt with the item, THAT is intrusive because it gives out the exact store you shop at but to just name a department store? But, "Nordies", "Loewe boutique in Barcelona" or "Bought it 2nd hand off Fashionphile" or "I'm not the original owner"....none of those answers are particularly telling.

It's an easy question to answer, and I personally find sellers who dodge easy questions like that suspicious - usually my assumption is they don't want to tell you because they don't know what the bag's providence is....For example, I KNOW my city's David Jones doesn't carry Celine, so if the seller says it's from X city's DJ then I know they're almost definitely lying about the purchase which again, would make me suspicious of the authenticity.

ETA: OP, I would avoid this seller, because eh, why give your money to someone so rude and dismissive...?

i was simply asking question on which country this bag was bought from if i were to bring the bag to the store in the future. Not even the specific location, date, time, or origin of the bag. I noticed this seller have tendency to ignore this question as i was reading the feed of other buyers comments. (Btw, my conversation with her was through DM so I expected she would be more open to share that. )

When you are spending over thousand dollars for a bag, as i buyer, i want to know where this is bought from especially when the receipt is not provided. This also makes me wonder the legibility of the bag.

Regardless what the circumstances may be, i find it it’s unprofessional to respond in such way like that. Her response made me clear not to purchase the bag.

The "too busy" comment would make me walk away. Is she also "too busy" to package properly, is she "too busy" to get to the post office in a timely manner? I think it was dismissive and rude.

and what would she be like if the bag was purchased and the buyer wasn't satisfied?
I've had three occasions where I wasn't happy. Two small sellers on ebay both of which didn't have a lot of experience with bags (won't do that again). Both had undisclosed damage and both denied it. I got a price adjustment on one and returned the other.
Third was a power seller. Bag was not the size I expected. It was a mini version and that wasn't in the ad. Sent it back with no problem.
As a buyer, I want to gather as much info as possible so I won't have an issue. As a seller, I want to do same for the buyer.

I would stay clear of a "buyer" who wants to know a bit too much and stuff that is simply NONE of their business, they are buying an item, usu

ally for a greatly reduced price, there is a reason why they do not buy from a shop, be it that they can't afford it, the item is not available in shops, whatever, year produced and all that has ZERO to do where anybody bought it. And the way the person who claims to be a buyer phrased the questions, I would rather burn a bag than sell it to somebody so rude.

If the buyer can't be polite, the buyer can go and pay full price in the shop, welcome to, there might just be a reason why "buyer" asks all those questions instead of buying retail. Look, if I am parting with stuff, I usually do it for a fraction of the price I paid for in a shop, which shop and how much I spent for is my private business, take it or leave it, you don't want it, cool, but don't hassle me. From the name of the seller there, I think it is pretty obvious it is a reseller, so what a daft question to ask in the 1st place and what a waste of time.

The only items I will buy 2nd hand are usually the ones that I missed buying while they were available, I am the 1st one to admit that I am a victim of retail therapy and an impulse buyer who spends far too much on something that grabs her fancy and then doesn't work out, so if I put them on for a fraction of the price, it means I am financing something the person usually couldn't afford in the 1st place, that person then acting like he or she is doing me a favour and thinking he or she has the right to quiz me about my shopping habits and where I buy from, despite providing every evidence of it being real, doesn't sit well. I am actually always more happy to go through a 3rd party that does the authentication because I really do not want to deal with psychos who want to know where and when I bought and to which occasion I did wear it, they also tend to be the ones who never buy.

I am aware there are a ton of fakes out there, that is why I won't put my stuff on eBay and other such sites and rather pay more for commission but again, you are buying an item I am willing to part with for the fraction of the retail price, so I am substituting somebody's desire, if that is not good enough, they are welcome to pay full retail. And seriously, if the retail price is under 5K (talking GBP) I really don't write down the shop, month or day as it was an impulse buy, if you are not happy to buy it for a 1/10th or less without quizzing me (again only selling through sites that authenticate themselves and ask for relevant documentation) it is simply not worth my time. Those items are luxury items, if you are struggling to afford them even at a greatly reduced price, you don't have your priorities in order, those are not "need to have items" but wants, that being said, totally hate fakes, but asking somebody where they bought, that is ridiculous as anyone could google and find a shop who sells it.

I collect Fendi Spy bags, they come in great variety, tons of fakes out there, but if you like an item, you educate yourself about it, asking for more pics, showing relevant details, totally fine, asking "Where did you buy it" and then following it up with how interested you are, sorry, I have to call BS, as anybody could do a quick google about where they were sold and then name it, totally irrelevant. If somebody resells an item I want, again, totally cool with me, as stated the reason why I want it will be that I didn't buy it when it was available, my fault, quite a few cases where I paid more for a previously owned item than I would have done first time round, that's down to me wanting it and not buying it in the shops when it was there.

I honestly can't recall the number or times I was asked where I bought an item and when I seriously thought about it (again, compulsive buyer, having a bad day and feeling down, I will go on a shopping binge) and then being told that if I can afford to buy there, I am doing well and I should let interested "buyer" for less as I can afford it... Sod that, I am working for my money and shopping habit, if I can afford to pass it on for a lot less, I can also afford to give it to a charity, which I do with most of what I get for it because I often feel guilty about spending so much on a luxury item. I however do not feel obliged to give it to anyone being intrusive, just like I don't feel obliged to give it away for the price of a cheap mass produced item because somebody wants to show off.

As I said, there is NO excuse ever for selling fakes, best way to avoid that is buying from the shop directly, you get the full experience and the wrapping, and yes, you do pay full price, if you are not willing to do that or can't afford it, prying where somebody bought it won't do much, I would rather concentrate on stuff like lining, serial numbers (if the item has it), clasps and such. For the record, I actually went against my principles and bought the Fendi bowling bag off eBay for 150, as I couldn't find it nowhere else, will cost possibly twice as much refurbishing as it was sold as a "a work bag with significant signs of wear" no damages but significant signs of wear, everything else intact (serial number checked out as authentic) only the shoulder strap missing, bag I missed when it was released as I was a student then and couldn't foot the price tag, if the seller bought it 1st, 2nd or 3rd hand is simply none of my business, it is the bag I was after, and since originally it cost a lot more....

Wowowowow that’s some harsh attitude. Maybe you shouldn’t sell anything.
