So you think if I ask a seller if she is the original owner I'm being rude? As stated, my reason for this is usually that I want more info on the bag. For example, I was looking for an older Botkier Trigger a few months ago. Since they made them back in 2006 or something like that and then later made them again with lower quality leather, I wanted to try to be as sure as I could that I was looking at an older one. I didn't ask where she bought it.
Is that rude in your opinion?
The way you phrased it, totally. Again, you are buying for a totally reduced price and you want to know stuff that is simply none of your business, where the seller bought it is really none of your business.
If you are looking for a specific item that was produced later, cool, but in this case, you were intrusive with somebody who is clearly a reseller. I mean if you are after the items and you are so concerned, why not buy from the shops? As I said, I buy mainly from shops, if I buy an item 2nd hand and I want more info I have the courtesy to let the seller know why, not just demand in an rude and intrusive manner where seller bought it from.
Seriously, while I hate fakes with a passion, I also hate it if people think they have every right to my personal shopping habits because they MIGHT consider buying an item they couldn't ever afford at retail price. I went through a Hermes phase, a Gucci phase, a Celine and a Balenciaga phase when it came to handbags, mostly just retail shopping, worn once or twice and everything in the description, the amount of questions of where I bought them (dohhhhhh there are not that many authorized retail shops again, usually put it in the description) then the whole questions where I wore it, what I wore with it. Sod it, NO, nobody's business, you are buying the bag, for a lot less than I paid for. Not happy with it, cool, do not buy, go to the shop and pay full retail. I don't mind.
In general, I think the whole resale business is possibly not that great, luxury items are just that, not what anybody needs, but the resale industry makes people think they should have them, even if they can't afford them.
Since you didn't ask where she bought it, why are you bugged about it?
Seriously, if I buy a bag or an item, I am more concerned about the item being real, where the seller got it from, really not my concern or my business, as stated, usually an item that I didn't buy when it was in the shops. I might ask for additional pictures bur if I do so, usually state my reason, if the seller inherited it, made a lucky find in a charity shop, bought it and didn't like it, bought it to resell it, that is really none of my business, as I am interested in the item. I will do due diligence if it is real and usually if I can't authenticate myself pay for authentication for my own peace of mind, but a pointless question as "where did you buy it" followed with claiming I am a serious buyer, a serious buyer would not ask that question.
I collect, I found super bargains for unbelievable prices at car boot sales or estate sales, where people just wanted to get rid of stuff they got from house clearances, not that I would ever part with them, among them Chanel bags and Cartier watches (and yes, got them additionally authenticated, still won't part with them) but if I would part with them (not likely) I would offer the authentication, but how I got them would really not be anybody's business. The fact that I go through a ton of those sales, usually find nothing and once in a blue moon might find the odd item I treasure, and given the time and effort compared to my usual rate for work, not actually such a bargain (again not parting with them because due to finding them, I treasure them much more than anything I found in the shops, but that might just me being weird), but would I want to sell them on (again I don't as I treasure vintage items much more), I'd just go like "OK, find another one then, good luck"
If you are concerned about the leather, ask questions about the leather and close ups
