Please read the attached thread. I’m interested in buying the Loewe bag she posted on the Poshmark.

Looks all the photos she posted seems legit and she argues that it’s 100% authentic (plus the poshmark headquarter will do their own authentication before shipping to the buyer.)
However, somehow she is refusing to answer where she purchased the bag from i just find it weird. What do all think? Does this seller seem shady or should i still buy it?
Also anyone have any experience buying stuff from Poshmark? I personally don’t and i see there’s mixed opinions on this site. E79C4A99-9FBC-441C-9DBE-6D26F0285F34.jpeg

Tbh I find it a bit weird to ask where somebody bought the item, that is a bit of a personal question and you never know who asks the question, could be somebody interested or a stalker, plus I would consider it nobody's business if I got the bag as a present, bought it 1st or 2nd hand, as long as it is legit, somebody asked me the other day a similar question, about when and where I bought a dress. I told her that I really do not keep notes when and in which shop I bought an item and where (especially a mid-price item like DvF) or on which day of which month I bought it, especially since I provided plenty of pictures of the serial number, holograph, name etc. And if you google that, it is pretty obvious that it was the 2018 collection.
A buyer should get an item that is exactly as described, pictured and authentic, but they do not automatically get a right to have access to my shopping habits or where I shop and when.

For the record, never bought or sold on Poshmark, so I wouldn't know anything about their authentication, but your question seems a bit intrusive.

I think it's weird that she refuses to answer plus she's really rude. Would skip just because of that.
There are also people that fence stolen goods etc - not saying this seller is but there are bags that get stolen and they end up somewhere.

Place of purchase can help ease minds re: authentication, although receipts can be faked so not sure if it's really helpful. But I don't personally find it intrusive if someone asks me.

I considered buying a designer item from poshmark before. If you want to authenticate the item yourself before you order it, you will need better quality images than the ones posted on poshmark. I would not expect a 'really busy' seller to send out detailed pictures to a potential buyer for authentication though...

Well, opinions differ, I find it intrusive, simply not anybody's business where I shop, people can also just claim they bought from a shop, so not really sure how that will ease minds, if you're worried about receipts being faked but you feel easier about somebody naming a shop, there is no logic behind it.

I found the "buyer's" questions totally impolite

I've had more than one seller tell me they were not the original owner. So I assumed they got the bag on ebay or similar. I see not reason not to admit it if you bought the bag preowned - unless you're asking too much for it? When I ask it's usually because I want to know more of the history of the bag (year produced, etc)
If this person can't come up with a polite response I think I'd steer clear of them

People do routinely sell expensive bags on PM and include original tags and receipts. So sometimes people ask for that info. But nobody is under any obligation to say where they bought it from.
I would not depend on Poshmark to correctly determine the authenticity of any bag.

I would stay clear of a "buyer" who wants to know a bit too much and stuff that is simply NONE of their business, they are buying an item, usu

ally for a greatly reduced price, there is a reason why they do not buy from a shop, be it that they can't afford it, the item is not available in shops, whatever, year produced and all that has ZERO to do where anybody bought it. And the way the person who claims to be a buyer phrased the questions, I would rather burn a bag than sell it to somebody so rude.

If the buyer can't be polite, the buyer can go and pay full price in the shop, welcome to, there might just be a reason why "buyer" asks all those questions instead of buying retail. Look, if I am parting with stuff, I usually do it for a fraction of the price I paid for in a shop, which shop and how much I spent for is my private business, take it or leave it, you don't want it, cool, but don't hassle me. From the name of the seller there, I think it is pretty obvious it is a reseller, so what a daft question to ask in the 1st place and what a waste of time.

The only items I will buy 2nd hand are usually the ones that I missed buying while they were available, I am the 1st one to admit that I am a victim of retail therapy and an impulse buyer who spends far too much on something that grabs her fancy and then doesn't work out, so if I put them on for a fraction of the price, it means I am financing something the person usually couldn't afford in the 1st place, that person then acting like he or she is doing me a favour and thinking he or she has the right to quiz me about my shopping habits and where I buy from, despite providing every evidence of it being real, doesn't sit well. I am actually always more happy to go through a 3rd party that does the authentication because I really do not want to deal with psychos who want to know where and when I bought and to which occasion I did wear it, they also tend to be the ones who never buy.

I am aware there are a ton of fakes out there, that is why I won't put my stuff on eBay and other such sites and rather pay more for commission but again, you are buying an item I am willing to part with for the fraction of the retail price, so I am substituting somebody's desire, if that is not good enough, they are welcome to pay full retail. And seriously, if the retail price is under 5K (talking GBP) I really don't write down the shop, month or day as it was an impulse buy, if you are not happy to buy it for a 1/10th or less without quizzing me (again only selling through sites that authenticate themselves and ask for relevant documentation) it is simply not worth my time. Those items are luxury items, if you are struggling to afford them even at a greatly reduced price, you don't have your priorities in order, those are not "need to have items" but wants, that being said, totally hate fakes, but asking somebody where they bought, that is ridiculous as anyone could google and find a shop who sells it.

I collect Fendi Spy bags, they come in great variety, tons of fakes out there, but if you like an item, you educate yourself about it, asking for more pics, showing relevant details, totally fine, asking "Where did you buy it" and then following it up with how interested you are, sorry, I have to call BS, as anybody could do a quick google about where they were sold and then name it, totally irrelevant. If somebody resells an item I want, again, totally cool with me, as stated the reason why I want it will be that I didn't buy it when it was available, my fault, quite a few cases where I paid more for a previously owned item than I would have done first time round, that's down to me wanting it and not buying it in the shops when it was there.

I honestly can't recall the number or times I was asked where I bought an item and when I seriously thought about it (again, compulsive buyer, having a bad day and feeling down, I will go on a shopping binge) and then being told that if I can afford to buy there, I am doing well and I should let interested "buyer" for less as I can afford it... Sod that, I am working for my money and shopping habit, if I can afford to pass it on for a lot less, I can also afford to give it to a charity, which I do with most of what I get for it because I often feel guilty about spending so much on a luxury item. I however do not feel obliged to give it to anyone being intrusive, just like I don't feel obliged to give it away for the price of a cheap mass produced item because somebody wants to show off.

As I said, there is NO excuse ever for selling fakes, best way to avoid that is buying from the shop directly, you get the full experience and the wrapping, and yes, you do pay full price, if you are not willing to do that or can't afford it, prying where somebody bought it won't do much, I would rather concentrate on stuff like lining, serial numbers (if the item has it), clasps and such. For the record, I actually went against my principles and bought the Fendi bowling bag off eBay for 150, as I couldn't find it nowhere else, will cost possibly twice as much refurbishing as it was sold as a "a work bag with significant signs of wear" no damages but significant signs of wear, everything else intact (serial number checked out as authentic) only the shoulder strap missing, bag I missed when it was released as I was a student then and couldn't foot the price tag, if the seller bought it 1st, 2nd or 3rd hand is simply none of my business, it is the bag I was after, and since originally it cost a lot more....

So you think if I ask a seller if she is the original owner I'm being rude? As stated, my reason for this is usually that I want more info on the bag. For example, I was looking for an older Botkier Trigger a few months ago. Since they made them back in 2006 or something like that and then later made them again with lower quality leather, I wanted to try to be as sure as I could that I was looking at an older one. I didn't ask where she bought it.
Is that rude in your opinion?
