Hi fellow Tiffany lovers! I have a question: Has anyone popped into their local T&CO store and had a platinum ring polished while you wait? I have an email into a store that I will be near soon while on vacation (nothing local for me, unfortunately) to see if it's a service I can wait for rather than sending my ring out and waiting for it to be returned.. Thanks in advance!

My store no longer did polishings in store as it was a discontinued service. It had to be sent out and took a couple of weeks.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with polishing! I honestly had no idea what to expect, time wise. I just assumed it was a quick process.. You could pop in and wait and have your shiny ring looking like new very quickly! Guess not.. T&CO got back to me and reiterated what you both said. So it looks like I"ll have to send it away :/
What's your opinion on taking it to a local jeweler and having it done? Any advantages at all to sending it away via T&CO?

If Tiffany damages it, they replace it. Doubt a local jeweler would do that. I take everything Tiffany to Tiffany. It takes a few weeks, but everything comes back beautiful and like new.

Makes sense. I will do that.

BTW, you can ask that they ship everything back to your house vs having to make the trip to Tiffany's. I call the service people and ask directly, as the SA's at the boutiques have always told me they have to ship things back to the store. But it's not true. I've never been charged extra for having things sent directly back to me. They use 2nd day UPS. They do require signature usually, but they email you with tracking information so you can plan ahead.

That's good to know! I didn't know that.

Thanks for mentioning this! I had totally forgotten that this was an option. :)

I have a related question - my H has a very scratched up platinum Tiffany band. What are the chances it will be returned to new condition after they polish it?

I had the same situation. My DH's platinum band was really scratched up. I dropped it off at the store to be sent out for polishing. It looked brand new when returned. If it wasn't for the engraving on the inside of the ring, I would have thought they gave us a new ring. You should get it done. I think you will be pleased with the results.

We are giving it a shot! Dropped it off yesterday, should have it back in 2 weeks

Great info thanks! I will for sure, I can't wait to have it looking brand new. I will post before and after pix when I get it back. I have the 2.6 mm Bezet band in platinum and I love it- just want it shiny and new looking
