Update! I actually returned the silver pinky ring and purchased the same design in gold to fit my ring finger. I still like the idea of a pinky ring, especially one from Cartier later down the road. Currently enjoying my new go-to right hand stack. Thanks for all the replies and opinions!

Pinkie rings are very common among engineers educated in the British Commonwealth outside of Britain. They are typically a stainless steel band worn on the smallest finger of the working hand. They are steeped n tradition and mystery.

Yes, this is the mark of an engineer!

Can't believe the opinions here...had no idea some consider it so ugly! I'm a gal, but I had been searching for the perfect pinky ring for a while, until I started wearing one on my right hand and realized it interfered with being able to handwrite!

I have a Tiffany wide mesh ring that fits my DH's pinky and he loves to wear it sometimes!

I think it looks interesting.
Wear it if you are confident enough to be special. Rings on the pinky are not mainstream.

I think it also depends on where you live. We are in NYC and DS is involved in the creative arts. A few weeks ago he asked if he can have his ears pierced - not ear, earS! And then I noticed how many guys he's around who have them! Regardless of orientation - his dance teacher, his rock band director, lots of people we see walking around the city. It's funny all the opinions here about pinky rings - mainstream??? heck, try a septum ring! One of his headshot photographers wears one. (And by the way, the answer was NO).
