I must say Buttons, being the manly rabbit that he is particularly objected to having a heart slung around his neck.
Oh my gosh--they are adorable! I love rabbits.
I have cats. With various cats over the years, I've draped necklaces on them--some enjoyed it.
Smudge was a beautiful, black Maine Coon (he died from a rare cancer over a year ago, sadly). He looked stunning in emeralds. He'd lay on the bed when I went through my jewelry periodically, and I'd put necklaces on him. Loki, a black shorhair, also tolerates necklaces--again, because of him being black, bright colors look great on him.
Jasmine (a grey Maine Coon; she died nearly a year ago) was my "Lady of the Jewels" (jewelry version of Mistress of the Wardrobe that Elizabeth II has). She didn't wear any, but she had a morning ritual that I miss so much: as I was blow-drying my hair, she'd wait by the jewelry box area, always sitting in the same spot, on angle, so she could see me come into the room. She always meowed to "call" me to accessorize. Or, if she forgot, I'd only have to say, "Jasmine--accessories!", and she'd come running upstairs to her spot. I'd always pretend to ask her advice, "Pearls today, Jasmine?", and she'd get that lovey-dovey look in her eyes, and start purring. I loved this bonding time every day. Sometimes, I'd forget to accessorize, and then I'd see Jasmine patiently sitting in the same spot, waiting for me! Lordy, I miss her...a wonderful companion.
The day after Jasmine was put to sleep, Marilyn took over the job. She's not as dignified as Jasmine, and tends to walk in the jewelry trays, and knock things over. (We now say, "Sparklies", instead, BTW.) Marilyn is my little jewel thief--she used to run around with something in her mouth, making me chase her. Months later, I'd find a missing bracelet under some furniture!
Gemma (yes, it means "Gem"!) seems to be in training, and assists Marilyn sometimes.
Of course, the cats don't really know what I'm saying to them, but I think they love the bonding ritual every day--as do I.
