My DH buys all my jewelry pieces together with me. If he wants a new rolex, then we decide together. All my income goes to designer shoes/dresses/bags.

I buy my own pieces most of the time. For those very big ticket items, hubby would offer to pay a portion so my wallet would not be so sad.

My parents have contributed to my diamond studs and bought other small pieces when I was younger but other then that I paid for my jewelry myself which makes me very proud!

Me too! I like them to be gifts because then they have special meaning or connected to a special event.
My parents and my wonderful husband buy me all of my expensive jewelry. I buy the cheaper stuff in silver or costume - those I don't care about.

Same here too,and totally with you on wanting the more expensive pieces gifted,does make them more special.My diamond studs were upgraded as a gift instead of me haviing an eternity ring when my DD was born,they mean the world to me.
I mostly purchase my jewelry with my own funds. Some were bought by my parents.
DH got me a couple of pieces as gifts for either my birthday or Christmas ... but it's very rare that he buys me jewelry.
