Pearl bracelets?

I never consider jewellery an "investment" financially - the few pieces out there that might count are well beyond my price range anyway :) When I say "investment piece" I mean a high quality, well made item that is tasteful, classic, and will serve me well right into my much older years.

I'm looking at gem grade freshwater pearls, far more "bang for buck" than Akoyas, and the top ones available are really quite good these days. I prefer all nacre so they will last the distance and not look dull or become "blinkers" down the track.

I'm leaning towards the bracelet..... if nothing else it's extra matched pearls should I opt to extend my strand or if a pearl is lost or damaged.
Same here. I used to love buying jewelry for my mom when I was frivolous with money but then realized its just because and never a true investment. And those few investments pieces I'd never afford and probably wouldn't buy considering it would buy me a house

I wear pearls all the time. Usually I'll wear a different type of pearl as necklace than as bracelet, but sometimes i match. I have one double-strand bracelet I wear like 3 days a week with my watch.

I think pearls are now retro and kind of funky. In my mother's day, everyone wore pearls, but you don't see them often now.

Hi
I think that a pearl bracelet is great to wear when you are wearing sleeveless or short sleeves. With earrings. When a strand necklace might be too 'hot' or too formal.
The feel of a bracelet which is just the right length moving on your wrist is really nice too - and the bonus is that you can see the pearls!

I just bought my 3rd pearl bracelet this time an akoya 6.0 to 6.5mm with an upgraded WG round clasp.
again i bought from pearlparadise, with the discount the bracelet was 103.00 plus my clasp and with mothers day discount the total was just under 150! not too bad!

btw I was looking at mikimoto and decided the designer name just wasn't enough for me to justify 775.00 for lesser quality akoya pearls...

Is the discount code available yet? I couldn't find it on the website. I'm actually waiting on a quote from PP, as I'm interested in slightly non- standard lengths.
the code is PEARLS4MOM it should work, mine worked yesterday!
I always ship with fedex because canada post is snail mail ;) and even when I request a 7.5 inch length when the item is normally 7 inches it always ships within a day, which is nice!

what length are you looking for? I think they keep stock of standard lengths like 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8 etc...

Aah thank you.

The listing in the set said 7.5" but I think I need about 6.75".

I'm back to wondering what to do. I really, really want the full set - strand, bracelet, studs and dangles - but I don't want to pay over $1000. This will be just over, but once I hit the $1000 mark I need to pay import duties and taxes, which will be over $200.
I'd be better off forgoing either bracelet or dangles my total is under $1000 and I avoid the tax - get the extra piece at a future sale.

Which will be a long while - if I do this, this will blow the jewellery budget for therest of the year and also count as hubby's Xmas gift to me this year as wellas anniversary and my birthday next year! So at least 18 months until that extra piece (or anything else for that matter).

I'd probably get more use out of the dangles so I'll probably get those first and the bracelet later. But I really want both now, aargh!!

I have a dark grey/black freshwater pearl bracelet that I love and wear almost every day. It is by Silpada and the style is very casual, not at all formal. I would like to have a dressier white pearl bracelet too. Sorry this picture is so huge!

what kind of pearls do you want?

Now I want them even more!!!

Part of me is toying with a lesser quality bracelet as I know it's going to be banged up a lot.

Darn darn $1000 customs limit! Maybe I'll buy over 2 shipments and have one addressed to my MIL or something so they come in under the limit...
