Gia grades more than round
If the cut is ideal for a PEAR shape I think it's a fair price personally.
I'd love a 2crt pear pendant

Is this a new thing (GIA grading non round stones) as I thought they only give cut grades for round??

I have a GIA report for a princess diamond and the only thing missing is the cut grade and I was told that it is because of the above.

My oval has a GIA certificate and there is no cut grade either. I was told that GIA only gives a cut grade for rounds, but maybe I was told wrong? Swanky, do you know what other cuts GIA does give a cut grade for? Thanks.

Hmm I am curious about this Mark Broumand. Prices on his website in some cases seem too really good. Almost too good....Anyone know anymore details on this jeweler?

Cut is everything, as far as diamonds are concerned. Ask for a copy of the GIA spec to check the cut parameters.

How to pick the best looking pear -
1. Pear spec
"If you want a pear with good white light return, look for a set of proportions close to:
Table 55%-60%
Crown Height 12%-14%
Total depth 61%-63%
If you want a pear with more colored light flashes, look for
Table 52%-57%
Crown Height 14%-17%
Total depth 62%-65%
NEVER go above 60% table. Don't go deeper than 66%, and don't go shallower than 59%. Deep stones tend to be very dark. Shallow stones tend to suffer more bowtie.

For shape, look for L/W ratio of 1.42-1.50 for a chubby pear. Chubby pears are gret for rings, and slightly longer pears up to 1.6 ratio are great for pendants.

For polish, want at least very good.
For symmetry, want at least good."

Girdles - Stay away from anything extremely thin or extremely thick, which are durability issues and/or taking up tooo much carat uselessly.

2. Inspect in Person
Look for pears that have very minimal low-tie. Check out the brightness and rainbow sparkles under all lighting conditions.

Thanks for all the comments and advise. I am too far away from los angelas. :(
Mr broumand sent me some picture of this ring on finger as my request. And i find the setting too high on the finger. But it is a great size. I will have to ask kohl to help me post up the pictures...incase anyone else is interested. :)
