Hello,
I had 2 pateks - both elippse models - 1 was quartz and 1 was mechanical.

I ended up selling both and I replaced them with rolex. a rolex president and a 2 tone datejust.

people may think i was stupid.... but the reasons were as follows:-
1) no ladies patek are waterproof. both my rolexes are oysters and 100m waterproof - not crumby water resistant... but waterproof.
2) my pateks both had leather straps.... at $350- a new strap..... and only a patek strap would fit!!! (the elippse buckle was to blame here).
3) not many poeple even know what a patek is! not that i am a shouting voilet.... but when i like some attention.... it is nice.
4) rolex are so much more robust and rugged! with 2 small kids i was hardly wearing the pateks.... why have a watch u never wear.

do i miss my pateks? a little.... but i love my rolexes more.

also - not all pateks are valuable..... i doubt weather any quartz ladies patek will ever be that valuable.

even the mens are only valuable if they are the $$$ complicated models.... patek made many ugly models in the 70s.... for both men and ladies.

sorry - but rolex is king!

Duchess has good taste! Loving Gondolo - why retired - what took the new spot in your heart?

Patek Philippe has retired this model. I actually was extremely fortunate to be able to get it!
My husband and I searched all over the world (except for the Middle East) for this model;I am not kidding!

Patek Philippe allowed one dealer to order this, and it was the last one made in this model.

I will never part with it as long as I am still alive and/or mentally sound! LOL

Thanks for the honest advice. With a president and a two tone datejust you have a perfect variety.

Patek Phillipe is definitely a watch that your daughter will be soooo grateful you left for her!!!! Vacheron Constantin is also an AMAZING watchmaker. mlbags I would love to see your Vacheron if you could post a pic!

Hi everything posh, I lost this thread and just saw your post. Here's a pic of my Vacheron.
