As I understand the VAT, it just must be available for inspection when requesting the VAT (ie, not in a packed bag already with the airlines).

Dreamdoll, you are right, the violet croc was lovely but so was every other one that I saw. Did not see any new kellys tho'.

thanks everyone! guess i'll have to do my vat in london since i'll be coming home from london, hopefully no troubles at all!

there is a thread somewhere about detaxing in London. sorry i can't find it right now but one of the fellow tpfers went into extreme details about it. you may wish to do a search!

Here is the thread that Hanyeu was referring to.

From the personal experience of relatives/friends who have had VAT experience I would strongly advise you to be prepared to show your goods at the VAT counter before and AFTER check in. Many times travellers have been denied VAT refund if the goods have been checked into the suitcase, particularly high ticket items.

SO excited for the trip! I can't wait for reveals lol =D. My bestie just came back from Zurich, Milan London and Paris about a week ago but had no luck in getting any Birkins. But i do hope you will find something precious!!!!
