anyone gone to hermes in ************f0000]paris/london[/COLOR] recently, any birkins in stock at all?

thanks!!!:graucho:

wawa,

yes, visiting Paris for H is extremely exciting.

i would strongly recommend reading up on "the Newbie's Guide to Getting a birkin" in the Reference section. As for pricing, there are several threads on birkin pricing info and our fellow tpfers have compiled them so that many of us can do a price comparison. Again, you can find this in the shopping section. Be sure to do a search on "VAT refund: as well as I heard VAT refund in UK can be a tricky if that is your last port of departure from the EC.

Good luck! Enjoy Paris and London and we look forward to see your reveal pics.

hi :)

I mentioned this before in another thread.. but it's pure luck and takes a lot of patience to score a birkin.. (i'm talking about Paris)

sometimes if you get lucky and they have something, they'll just show it to you. Other days, even if you visit everyday, you might come back empty-handed.. :)

so... i guess... maybe, try to pop in the store everyday to see what they might have? ;)

You have much more chance in Paris than in London, like the others have said, you need to go in every day a couple of times each day and keep asking. Check the recommended threads for advice, this should help

I wish you every luck and look forward to your reveal

thanks for the tips!!

Hanyeu: vat refund is tricky in london uk? how so? i thought we can only do the vat on the last destination when europe, and that'd be london for me, will i be able to do vat in paris before i leave to london?

I was in Paris the last two weeks of March. The two times I went to the "mothership" as my DH lovingly refers to the H store the birkins were coming out of boxes everywhere. I saw a violet croc, an orange togo, a fringed suede, etc. Good luck!

there is a thread somewhere about detaxing in London. sorry i can't find it right now but one of the fellow tpfers went into extreme details about it. you may wish to do a search!

Just a reminder that to claim VAT out of London (and well, all European cities) the item must be unused/unwrapped in its original packaging....
Really? I had been carrying my bag on plane and none of them said it's a problem...:graucho: I love detaxing in London since they don't look at them and will send the envelope for you, so relax

no need, just do it when it's your last destination before leaving Europe. Only if you transiting at London, then you'll need to do it in Paris. If you'll stay in London, even for just a few hours, you just need to present all the detax documents and your ticket to them (or you can check-in first, obtain your boarding pass but without checking -in your luggage since they might want to see some of your purchase)
To my experience, they will only look at expensive items, like Hermes, Chanel and LV, each item will usually over 1000euro. otherwise British custom just skip it and stamp it. French custom is slooooow and rude, so go to the British one if possible.
Another tip, if you only purchase at 1 or 2 things, put your expensive bag on the hand-carry, then you can check-in other bulky items and carry the bag with you at all times.
Good luck at your Paris trip, just get my tip and you'll have very good chance to score a birkin.
BTW if you don't mind can you check the prices on Massai Cut GM size for me? thanks:graucho:

i agree with you. i remember i bought more than 15 scarves from burberry and claimed vat back. they didnt check my luggage.

Really. I was denied a VAT refund on one item because it was deemed as "used". And lectured that everything has to be in original packaging, unopened, unused, given that you are supposed to be exporting it in order to claim the tax back.
