Hi - I'm new to the forum, and I need help from experienced accessories wearers! I had been wanted diamond stud earrings forever and just got them for my birthday. Let's say it was a Significant Birthday...
They are 1.25 carats total, princess cut set in a 4-prong yellow gold. I bought them at a reputable jeweler in Boston (Barmakian) but they are uncertified diamonds. The woman who helped me let me look through loose stones until I found these. She said they were G color, very good to excellent cut and S1. I asked how she knew without a report and she said she'd been doing this for 30 years and she knew. Ok. They were set for me in screw backs and are now sitting in my ears, and I am freaking out about them!
Most of you will think this is crazy, but first of all I worry that they are too big! 1 carat total wouldn't have looked much different and I would have saved $500. I should have bought them at diamonds4less.com or something like that. I am feeling greedy AND thinking, here I am, a stay at home mom for the time being, taking care of twin two year olds and a four year old. What on earth do I need diamond earrings for?? Next, I am thinking - isn't it typical to get these. Do I look like a "kept" woman now, but with my big shiny earrings and no paying job. I am a simple person and I am totally paranoid that these earrings send the wrong message.
Talk me down, please! I am being way too neurotic about this, but something is pushing me to return these. My husband would think I was cray if I asked for these for 10 years, and return them two days after I finally get them!
THANKS!
