I am a devoted reader of "The flair index" by Jennifer Alfano. Her current post about three flattering items: A blazer, leggings and boots got me thinking. I never thought about wearing leggings, because they are strictly active-wear for me.
She showed this picture:

And says, that these three items can be a set that is flattering and easy to wear.

Does anyone of you wear leggings with a blazer and boots and what do you think about this outfit?

Have an nice day,
Poulinska

Haven't we been 'here' for what seems 10 years already?

There are leggings and there are leggings. Best with strong, sturdy leggings that are made for outerwear and not what are basically footless tights.

If you're not comfortable with leggings then think stretchy jodhpurs, leggings, skinny black jeans or cigarette pants etc, you'll get a similar silhouette.

Ugh those massive blazers remind me of the 80s/90s and not in a good way.

It's not a good example. Long is OK, but there are def better ones out there. Unlike that 90s 'scared of its own shadow' look (as above) there needs to be some shoulder structure and/or should be cut closer to the arm(hole). OP can also roll-up the sleeves if an existing long-line blazer or just buy a pre-loved one. The oversize blazer looks better with more sturdy footwear, with heels it would look less top-heavy is the blazer was cut closer the the body (a la Dolce or Balmain).

Good blazer brands:

Dolce and Gabbana
Saint Laurent Paris
Gucci
Balenciaga
Balmain
Dior
Haider Ackermann
Anna Demeulemeester

Cos
Emporio Armani
Jaeger (at M&S)
Zara (if you're lucky)

Thank you all for your opinions. My main obstacle are the boots. I like boots on other women but I am not sure whether wearing boots with leggings would be a) too warm and b) there would be creases on the knees. I will try this outfit with my existing items and will report back.
For blazers: I mostly wear Massimo Dutti Blazers, they are great and affordable.

I wear smth like this. Replace workout leggings w commando faux leather leggings or rag&bone legging pants, or just black skinny jeans. Oversized blazers dont look good on me, so I always go with my balmain blazer or smth thats fitted or croppes. Unless youre tall like hailey bieber, i think the look in OP requires more effort that it seems.

I think whatever you do you need to balance the silhouette and mix big/skinny items.
So the oversize square blazers are very in right now (I found one at Zara after the Acne Studios was too sturdy), the leggings need to be thick material, got mine at Totême with a zip opening at the ankle. And the boots...the classic flat boots are too equestrian for me, especially if paired with jeggings and tight fitted blazer. Right now I´d pair boots with jeans for more casual. Edgier boots would be a "slight" cowboy style, or a pointy/kitten heel with straight shaft, or higher square block heel you wear with culottes or midi skirts/dresses.

So I tried the look with my old knee-high boots, yoga pants turtle neck and massimo dutti blazer. I think the blazer is too short.

I think you look better than the initial post (JA) and more powerful/smart :ps:

I would add a micro-mini or mini or short shorts (if you're feeling self conscious about the length of the blazer) plus one piece of statement jewellery (perhaps you have large hoops in - can't see) for a more YSL look, but I think you look great.

I like that blazer length on you. The leggings aren’t the right colour of black though. At least how they present in the picture.

For me the outfit feels pretty “buttoned up”. I would do it with a lacy black cami and add killer earrings.

Posted at the same time.

I aree it needs to feel a bit more undone for the 2020s

Thank you!
I am weak on the accessoires / jewellery side, so the earring idea is great! The Leggings are grey yoga pants, so I think a thick leggings would be good.
The boots are not my favorites, but since I almost haven't worn them I will try to wear them and if the concept is right, I would invest in better boots.
@papertiger and @A1aGypsy what do you mean by 'undone'?
