Outfit ideas to style a crop top professionally

Think there are certain clothes that are more finished or polished looking in an executive
workplace especially if meeting clients expectedly or unexpectedly & one can still look
modern & fashionable.
Never thought that sheer tops (lace or otherwise), midruff/crop tops, low cut tops were appropriate in the
office but that is JMO.
In spite of one person who wears it, doesn't mean that others have to follow suit &
can standout in their choice of style be it conservative or not. Color can go along way either in shoes
or accessories
There are even comments about wearing a designer bag when your boss has the same one
or one like it, but that's a different discussion.
So rules are guidelines & hopefully many will use their judgement in having good taste in their
office environment & still feel stylish

I am of a different opinion that it can be done but the bottoms are very important. I realise that cropped tops can be flattering to quite a number of body shapes ( I'm in my mid 40s with a bit of a mum belly)You don't want to show midriff so you need the bottoms to be high waisted and not clingy. The cropped top too needs to be somewhat boxy but not too roomy. Think high waisted wide leg pants with a cropped (not higher than navel) shirt with buttons. A co-ord sweater set- high waisted skirt and boxy sweater. A cropped boxy jacket. Sleeveless cropped top layer with a blouse or shirt. Cropped sweater on a dress.

Pictures below from the Internet for reference ( Ignore the patterns and colours and see the style and fit).

Ultimately this only works for semi casual workplaces.

Images 6 & 7 that @saugalady shared are office appropriate to me, the others for me
are really quite casual & seem more suited for weekend wear, JMO
The ZARA & MANGO jackets are very wearable & the colors would work with many underpinnings including
trousers high waisted or not, skirts & over a dress.
Also, the idea of prints can be very overwhelming in an office environment as prefer to
see the "person" as opposed to seeing the print, JMO

I did mention to ignore the colours and prints. I was highlighting the style and fit.

Will clarify for you @saugalady that images 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 in spite of the style & fit
do not find office appropriate & image #2 in particular with skin showing is more suited for weekend
& image #3 doesn't look so pulled together in terms of style/fit, JMO
The fit & style of images 6 (in spite of it not being on a person) & 7 are more suitable for an office JMO

I love the first one not for work of course but with jeans in summer so cute.

I would argue that a 'top' is a piece of clothing for the upper body. Can be a blouse, a jacket, a sweater, a tee shirt, a vest etc 🤷🏽‍♀️
I agree completely. I was just saying that some of the pictures that were shown were not crop-tops, which is a specific type of garment, like a mini-skirt. Not every cropped style top is a crop-top and not every shorter skirt is a mini-skirt. It's all about the degree of crop and overall fit.

I think the pictures were great though to show the OP some ways to wear a cropped style, which CAN be work appropriate, as shown in some of the photos. That would be a good way to get some of the vibe of a crop-top without having to damage one's image in the workplace. This one for example, is gorgeous and would be professional in almost any environment.
