Out of curiosity: do you prefer branded/high end jewellery or unbranded - and why?

These days definitely unbranded. I went through a HUGE Tiffany, Cartier, Bvlgari, and VCA period. I have since sold everything except for a few Tiffany gold Elsa Peretti bean pieces and the gold Tiffany Paloma graffiti X earrings. I now put my money toward classic, timeless pieces from local jewelers: high-quality solitaire diamond pendant; diamond channel set eternity band; diamond, emerald, ruby, and sapphire studs; a sapphire band; a ruby solitaire in white gold; etc. I also bought some low-key pieces from a brand called Gabriel and Co. that I discovered at a local jeweler. I'm enjoying discovering jewelry beyond JUC, serpenti, Alhambra, Love, and the like and have had no regrets.

Your collection sounds beautiful! For simple, stone-centred pieces, you really can't go wrong with a great local jeweller. The issue for me is trying to find a jeweller who will actually customise and make pieces, rather than just offering a set catalogue of products that they order in.

Thank you for the kind words:-) Good luck in your search! Where do you live? I wonder if someone here could pass on a recommendation? Happy holidays!

Our jeweler does it for us, and he's in California, we're in TX. We don't have a local jeweler at this point, we (DH lol) just defer to him for everything at this point.

I'm in the UK! I think it's more difficult to find that type of jeweller here. :wtf:
JMO. I think a relationship with an independent jeweler is one built over time. I’ve done so via the repair route as well as the purchase route (and a combination). I’ve always started out with smaller repair jobs or smaller purchases and seen how it goes :)

I don't like super recognizable branded jewelry, so I stay away from Cartier Love, VCA Alhambra, some Tiffany pieces, etc. It aligns with my preferences in bags and clothing, too - I don't like stuff with obvious logos. But other than that, I will buy branded and unbranded based on what I find to be pretty and well-made. For example, I love the Dior Rose de Vent line and the vast majority of people I encounter have no idea it's Dior when I wear it. But I also really love wearing a white gold necklace stack I put together from the Zales clearance section one year, lol.
