Was it a snub or was he forgotten? Every year it seems there is someone who should have been included but wasn’t.
maybe he was forgotten but it seems odd they included lots of people no one in the public ever heard of
I can understand and empathize with Mira being upset that he wasn't included. But in general, the in memoriam segments are for members of the group putting on the event who have passed away. If Paul Sorvino (or Anne Heche, or Tom Sizemore, or the others who were left out) were not members of the Academy, then it becomes a judgement call. I feel like in most every awards show when the list comes out of people who were left out, the argument is often that the person was a star, even if most of their work was not in that medium.

sorvino was in some big films...I guess he could have let his membership lapse? seems to me that people like him, sizemore and Heche could have been included regardless as they were pretty well known
You do not have to be an Academy member to be included in the In Memoriam segment. In the past many famous show biz people were honored who weren’t members.
They did a particularly sloppy job putting the list together this year. I doubt the exclusions were deliberate.
I had read that not everyone on the in memoriam list is mentioned on air. He was on the published list, just not mentioned orally at Oscars. (Anne Heche also on list but not mentioned orally) Still kind of strange https://aframe.oscars.org/news/in-memoriam?
I am acquaintances with his widow ... boy is she MAD. She says Paul was in over 200 movies so I have to agree with her he should have been mentioned.
Disappointing - not only was he in over 200 movies, he was a very talented actor who served the film and tv industry for a long time. She should be mad, IMO.
The segment seemed shorter than usual this year. I just heard an Academy explanation (excuse?) that they are working with a time constraint. Well then pick a longer song.
Or pick a host & limit their opening dialogue
I thought his monologue was fine but that exchange in the audience with Malala Yousefzai was unnecessary and would have been time better spent on the In Memoriam segment.
