Opinions on this K colored diamond!

If you want a better opinion on the diamond, go to the rocky talk forum of pricescope.com. Lots of knowledgeable folks there this will give you solid advice. A word of warning though, some posters are very pro-“branded super ideal”, so take the information you find useful and leave the rest. Not that there is anything wrong with branded super ideals, but they come at a steep premium that may or may not be worth it to you. GL

I posted there too! Lol it’s been YEARS since I was on PS but truth be told, as another thread that I just read there said: they may be too elitist for newbies such as myself for my simple diamond. And that’s ok too. That’s why there’s chocolate and vanilla. There’s always something for everyone. Plus fluorescence has such strong opinions and not many ppl even talk about K colored diamonds. You have to dig. I’ve been a member here for many years, the Jewelry Box use to get a lot of action back in the day.

I find that going with SI1 diamonds, you are getting the most value for your $ and still have a diamond with great clarity. If you go with J-K colour, I would have it set in yellow or rose gold to maximize its beauty and minimize the appearance of a yellowish tint.

So here are the latest pics the jeweler sent us. Although I love the way the ring looks I need to make sure there’s no milkiness once I play around with the lighting. In addition to that, due to SF I also want to see what color the stone gives off: blue (most likely), white, brown, etc. With SF you won’t know until you see it in different lighting.

I also want to confirm where the markings are on the stone since it’s SI 1. With all that, here she is:

Thoughts? This is my first time with a solitaire. I usually stay away from a lot of metal showing, but a solitaire was calling me this time around for whatever reason.
Did you end up keeping this stone? I think it is stunning, classic and simple! I just upgraded from a 1.40, G SI1 to a 2.03, K VS2 with medium florescence and I love the new stone. My K stone looks much brighter than my G stone did. Both XXX stones.

Do you use a jeweller with an upgrade program? Will you stay with K colour? It really suits you
Yes, we purchased it through Blue Nile. I am not in love with their service reps but I would lose money if I sold it and purchased a larger stone elsewhere. Their prices are very competitive in the range i am looking at but I have to spend double with my trade in. I do get the full price we paid towards a new stone. We weren’t planning on this until next year but I have found a beautiful K color stone that ticks all the boxes! They also will use your existing setting if they can and if not, give you credit towards a new one. I love my setting so I am hoping that they can just insert a new, larger prong basket for a larger stone.

I am attaching details on the stone I found today. This is my dream stone and final upgrade! This stone is very similar to the one I have only much larger, better clarity and a higher HCA score (my current stone scored 1.7 which is still in the recommended range).

Wow it’s a beauty! Did you intentionally look for an IF stone because of the size of your upgrade diamond?

I would typically not look for a clarity above a VS1 or VS2 but this stone met the depth and table requirements that I was looking for, scored high on the HCA score AND is a K color stone which I currently have and love. All the boxes are checked with this one!
