The light gold is not "brassy yellow" looking gold. It's very subdued, you can tell its a pale gold when you look closely. I've attached a photo of the my black violet Phoebe with Light Gold hardware and an espresso Caroline with light gold hardware. Hope this helps!
ETA: the tatum doesn't have a ton of hardware anyway, so the color shouldn't be overpowering.

I prefer the pink bag as well. I'm not a big tribal fan to begin with but I also think it would date quickly because it's trendy.

I have the black Tatum with whipstitch, and I love it. I like it more than just about any bag I have purchased from Coach. The light gold is not gold brassy gold. It's softer than that. I love that tribal as well but have had the same questions as you. So . . . I really want another tote, but I don't do pink bags. Good luck!

Haha yes we tend to like and have similar things. I'm carrying my black tatum today I've been trying to resist the pink.
