I am having a hard time finding a ring. This was the closest I could find that I liked. It's 1 carat center with .55 side stones. It's on layaway.....I am afraid to commit to the ring. I think the fiance is wondering what in the world he got himself into...lol. What do you ladies think? Thanks :-)

Honestly I am just not sure and maybe it could be that I am new to the halo look. This will be my second marriage and I remember the first time I saw my first engagement ring, I knew it was the one. My first ring was a round diamond too, which is why I asked to see princess but just didn't like the way it looked....this ring has been the closest I have come. I am thinking my hesitation might come from it looking like a cluster of diamonds for the center stone when it isn't. It is 1 carat center and .55 all around. He stated it was a G in color and an si1 for clarity. Maybe I need better clarity? Or maybe this ring just isn't for me. I am so confused....

If you're not sure then I would keep looking. This advice from someone that has made some expensive mistakes. Lol. I think halos are something people love or they don't. It's ok to keep looking for the perfect setting and stone.

And if Ame is available you should get her opinion on the diamond :smile1::smile1::smile1:

That's kind of why it's on layaway, it was close but I still keep second guessing myself. They will allow him to leave it on layaway for another 4 months but after that I have to make a decision. The money he already put down can only go as a credit to another purchase, but they won't give the money back. It's a $12,000 ring and I just hate to commit and have him lose all that money on a ring I may never wear. I found a ring online that they are willing to get from their other location....(family owned and own two stores). So they said they will have it to me at the start of the new year. I am wondering if I am driving myself crazy over this decision that really shouldn't be that hard, right?

I think your hesitation speaks volumes. If it doesn't feel right, then you should keep looking. You shouldn't have to talk yourself into the ring. I am a firm believer in trusting your instincts. When you find the right one, you'll know. For that amount of money and for what it symbolizes, you don't want to have any regrets.

Does anyone else think 12k is too expensive for this ring? I don't have much experience with diamond jewelry but I would do a little more research to make sure they are not hiking up the price for no reason, I feel like 1 carat center plus 0.55 halo/side stones does not equal 12k but maybe I'm wrong

I agree. I'm not mega educated but depending on stone stats, this might be inflated. More importantly you are undecided so let this be an opportunity to find the setting of your dreams but also a great stone at (possibly) a better value. You mentioned your fiancé had put down some funds - maybe those dollars could be used towards bands while you look elsewhere for a setting you love and a spectacular stone :smile1::smile1::smile1: just a thought.

12k is definitely expensive!!!!
The ring itself should cost no more than $1,500
Also for the 1 carat in G? You can get a 1 carrot E, Vs2 with 3 excellent GIA for 11-12k
