I think your ring is a beautiful work of art, and it would be a shame to slice it. Granted, its style is the opposite of your new e-ring (classic vs modern).

No offence intended, your original e-ring setting was dull (as in: so many women have a similar setting. Beautiful, but pretty common).

Your wedding band is a complete different story. I've never seen anything like that! If you slice it, you'll have an eternity band that looks like any other eternity band. You may get 2 stacking rings, but you'll probably loose the ropes, the most original parts imho.

And also, you picked this ring to go with your diamond, but your diamond was resetted with another line of diamond, so your original intent is still here!

Anyway, just wanted to let you know how I felt (with a bias: I'm not into resetting/upgrading to begin with)

No offense taken! When we got engaged 17 years ago, the diamond was just sort of plopped into a setting - we/he didn't put a lot of thought into it. He did, however put a lot of thought into the diamond. That's why I didn't have a sentimentality issue when I reset it the solitaire into the new band. The setting itself was not that important to us.

I am not big into resetting or upgrading either - but, when I lost the original band, the engagement ring was so lost without it! I tried to find a replacement band but nothing worked. So, I reset it. And I LOVE the new setting.

I'm surprised at the amount of people that like the old, original band! I thought everyone would say it was dated or masculine and I should reset it.

You have given me a lot to think about!
