When I put "damier ebene" into the search like this "damier ébène" I got a pronunciation like "eben." When I put it in like "damier ebene" without the accents I got "ebenee."

My SA pronounces ebene as ebenee.

I studied French for 7 years so am fairly comfortable with the line and bag names.

Well, ebene is directly translated into ebony, hence the "ebenee" pronunciation.

My first two Speedies were the Damier and Mini Lin prints. But on the little tag that comes inside the bag with the description of what the bag is, the Damier bag said "Ebene" and the Mini Lin bag said "Ebony".

I always wondered why they both didn't just say Ebene.
