Do you know how to pronounce the items for sale at Louis Vuitton? I'm guessing the answer is NO! Well, neither do I. But I've found a simple solution! Just go to Google Translate French to English and voila you can go to your favorite SA and speak the name properly of the item you're interested in.

Do you know how to pronounce Ebene? It's one of the most popular lines at LV. Here's where you can find out, along with all the other French words.

http://translate.google.com/#fr/en/ebene

Just click the little "sound" button at the bottom right (make sure you have the sound on on your computer) and you'll be able to "speak Louis Vuitton" like a pro!

Good Luck to you all and enjoy!

Thank you for sharing this is so useful! Never came to my mind you could do that.

I always feel so uncomfortable when asking for something that requires french at lv because I cannot speak french and my pronounciation is so crappy. I know most people are not able to say the names right but still. I even avoid to say Vuitton because I don't know how to say it properly. And when it comes to languages and pronounciaton I hate to do it wrong.

Well dear minnnea, you now have the answer. I feel like I fit in better all the way around at the LV store. Glad this will give you the power! :woohoo:

I might be going to Paris in a few months. I will just profusely apologize before the verbal assault begins! ha! But, really, what a great idea to go the translator! People really appreciate when you at least try.

Thanks for posting this, it is very helpful hearing how the lines are pronounced.....I tried empreinte and Metis...:smile1:

Technically, if you're speaking English, you can use English pronuciation & some insist *that* is the correct pronunciation - in other words, some people insist that it's improper to pronounce foreign words in their native pronunciations when you're speaking English. Some people also insist elbows off the table, probably those same people. But I think it depends on personal pref. and using that website is a good tip if you want French pronunciation.

You mean like when Giada De Laurentis is speaking English with no accent and suddenly pronounces Italian foods with an Itailian accent, or the Italian pronunciation? I agree-that always strikes me as weird. Your explanation makes perfect sense to me!
