Hi I am new to Hermes. Just wondering, do boutiques offer free shipping if you place orders over the phone? I bought two scarves from two different locations over the weekend, one store didn't charge me for shipping but the other store charged me $10 for Fedex ground. I wonder if each store has different shipping policy? TIA!

It really depends. Sometimes they wave it, sometimes they don't.

If you order through your SA, your SA can always take care of waiving the shipping for you. I always work with my SA whenever I can.
Please try to avoid blanket statements like this as almost every Hermes policy, including this one, comes down to “it depends”. In the USA: “Charge sends” from a different store than the one where your SA works, are typically free shipping. Phone orders and mailing purchases made in person back to your home, are generally charged shipping (free ground shipping sometimes, $10-$25 for two day fedex shipping depending on box size/weight, and $40+ for FedEx overnight). Some stores, some circumstances, some global pandemics, and some relationships will allow exceptions and provide the service for free but these are generally not automatic nor guaranteed.

Points taken. Modified my statement to be more accurately express my point. The emphasis is to work with your SA, rather than saying that waivers are guaranteed and should be taken for granted. It does depend on one’s relationships with the SA/store and store policies. Thanks for catching that.

I’m based in the US, and had the same experience like the majority on this thread. I never had to ask for free shipping and my SA would send via FedEx 2 Day out of state. I’ve made both small and large purchases over text/phone call to select my item then she sends a payment link. Hope you can get it waived! It never hurts to ask.

Anyone knows how dose the exchange work over the phone order, recently ordered something over the phone, my SA transferred the item from another store in US, unfortunately that store made a mistake sent me something not the right size (can't see item details over the pay link!), tried to negotiate the exchange, my SA told me she has to check with SM about the pre-paid FedEx shipping service (it's reasonable to ask for this, since it's not my fault) haven't got any feedback from her yet, so frustrating !
