LOL i can relate.

Usually I have two double lids.. but occasionally by right eye becomes a mono!!! I hate it! I do things like pull my lid to try to get it back to normal! I always hope people don't look at my face when I have uneven lids! I'm glad that I'm not the only one!

Haha I'm loving all the support everyone! Sometimes it bothers me and I just want it to fix itself, but not everybody notices it. It's great to know there are others who are putting up with this too!

bagaholic85, a monolid looks like the first picture and a double eyelid is the second picture.

i've heard that if you use the double eyelid tape long enough...like every day, eventually your eyes just stay that way. my college roommate did that with her monolids and i think she now has 2 double eyelids.

This is exactly what I did! I'm 24 now, and when I was a little girl I had one double and one monolid. Every night right before bed, I'd cut a piece of tape and apply it to my mono eyelid. Sometimes I'd even use my tweezers, use the sharp edge, and run it over my eyelid to wear I'd want a crease to form, just to make my skin used to that. (I hope that makes sense.) Eventually years later, it worked and I now have two permanent double eyelids! :D

so sorry for your dilemma...i've been worrying about this for dd recently...dh says i'm obsessing since she's only 3 months old! just hoping her eyelids are both the same, mono, double, it doesn't matter. they keep changing back and forth, and being the makeup junkie that i am, i worry for her sake! it seems that it's very common for the eyes to even out eventually, and u can try the tape like other people said (i have monolids myself but have never even wanted to try the tape - while it can eventually turn your lid double, it can also make the skin saggy later in life). good luck, know that u are not alone!

I know this is a super-old thread, but I got so excited when I saw the title, so I'm hoping nobody will mind if the little piggy attempts a resuscitation?

Anyone still around to commiserate? this used to bother me a lot, and I never wore eye makeup because I thought it looked funny. Happily, I discovered the best strategy for me is to wear false lashes. That really helps everything look more balanced (^(oo)^)

My asian girlfriends have used the method of cutting "matte" scotch tape to make their eyes bigger (by sticking them on top of their lid). They would cut the tape to any width they wanted on that day and round the corners off. They apply makeup on top of the matte tape and it stays. Eventually this method made the double lid permanent for one girlfriend - no longer needed the tape.

Also in Japan I hear that they have this "eyelash" glue that they apply on their lids to make their eyes bigger. I hear it works. They apply their makeup first then put the glue and they lift the lid to meet the glue and it works. They have youtube video tutorials for this method as well.

Hope this helps... in lieu of surgery - these may help until that one eye does it on its own. :D

I tried regular fake lash glue (Shu Uemura) and it just works as well. However, it was just an experiment and I think my skin would get saggy if I did this regularly.

I sometimes have one eye bigger than the other, sometimes they are equally small or big. Depends on how much sleep and water retention I got :X I think other people don't really realize it unless they are specifically looking for that. most ppl don't have symmetric features anyway

cause skins are getting droopy as time passed. you d better fix double eyelid by surgery. I and my friend took double eyelid surgery in BK and really like this. :graucho:

Thanks for all the advice ladies! I used to use glue or tape when I was a young lass and it used to look so obvious and weird. I guess the technology has since improved and it's time to try it again since it bothers me so much. Thanks for the help! Hopefully my eye trains itself to be even with the other one:yes:

I'm Asian and have struggled with feeling self-conscious about my uneven eyes forever. I always have trouble with my make up because I have to do it differently for each eye and it's just so frustrating. It bugs be every time I see myself in photos or look in the mirror.:hrmm:

Does anybody else have this? How do you deal with the self-consciousness and the "Whoa one of your eyes is so much smaller than the other" comments? Do you have any make up tricks?

Sorry if this is really whine-y, but I've never met anyone else with this and it really takes a toll on my self esteem.

Thanks in advance.
It's okay you're not the only one. I'm Asian too and I have that same problem. I tried to fix it but it didn't work :( I mean I learned to kinda make it bigger. I try to open my double lid eye bigger to match monolid. c: But doesnt work so well who cares. We're only human.

I started out with two monolids, then ONE became a double lid, so I had one monolid, one double lid all throughout high school and a couple years of college. Then suddenly within the past year, I have had two double lids! My monolid-susceptible eye does go back sometimes depending on sleep (puffy lids in the AM that depuff to one mono, one double), or sometimes if I push my eyeshadow brush into my eyelid wrong.

My eyelids naturally became double (no tape, glue, etc.), so I know I'm not much help when it comes to creating evenness, but when I did have one of each, I realized the best way to make them appear even was to NOT try to compensate for one or the other. Looking back at pictures, my eyes look the best when I'm just smiling normally, same makeup on both eyes, and not trying to hide it.

I have the same problem !!!!!! I hate looking at peoples faces and looking at them straight in the eye. I feel so ugly. :( If anyone knows any way to fix this problem please let me know. My left eye is mono and my right eye is double lid .

i had the same problem up until I was 18... my left eye used to be mono.. but one day it just became double... my mom said same thing happened to her growing up.

That gives me a bit of reassurance. My aunt also said she had the same problem. However, this is very noticeable for me if I wear contacts, but not when i wear glasses. Either way, I still don't like to look people in the eyes like fre3myself because I feel self conscious. Was it noticeable for you up to that point?
