OMG - The Hermes.com prices differ so much for US and UK

Regarding stock, the US site has been updated recently. Last week I looked and there were three scarf rings, for example. There have also been a lot more enamel bracelets added in the last few weeks. But hey, the UK site has a lot of carmen key chains, oh and Muse belt buckles! :s

But sadly, as far as I know, the online sites will only ship to the country they are located.

Maybe we can swap some of our Carmen Key chains for some of your scarfs!!??

I agree: we're having a pretty rough time here in Europe with the euro so strong:crybaby: I was chocked the other day, when I saw a gorgeous Bottega Veneta bag on their website, priced at 4100 USD. I thought that it would obviously cost less, here in Italy, but when I checked the Italian price, it was about 200 euros MORE than in the US!!!!:wtf:

Ali-bagpuss, your conversions are a little generous so things aren't quite as bad as you think compared to the US site, for example $385 is actually around £200 depending on the exchange rate provided by the cc company. Sites like xe.com are ok for a ballpark estimation but they really only show the optimal exhange rate and not the tourist cc rate.

I do agree that it's completely skewed that a European brand should be cheaper outside of Europe especially when you factor in that they have to pay import taxes and import license fees to bring the goods in. This is one of the things that we in the UK have always been shafted on though, brands will price according to what they believe the market will stand and in the UK we've paid over the odds for so many years they really go to town.

I travel to the US at least 3 times a year and always take full advantage of the price differences. I would never buy US branded goods over here unless they were on sale because we always get charge £ for $ prices. My friend in the US is always shocked by how much we pay for brands like True Religion which would retail for around $200 yet we get charged £200!!!

I think it's logical they have a wider range in the US, it's such a big country and even if there are many stores they are very far apart. Also I think the americans are the ones shopping the most online? (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

right now the UK site is actually cheaper than the euro site. i used a euro credit card in a boutique in london and i was charged less than the price listed on the french site since the euro is so strong right now :wtf:

I saw it on display in Harrods yesterday, wrapped around a mannequin. I only had a quick look but didn't think it looked as nice in real life as it does in the pictures.

Thanks Loony. I'll have a look when I get over to London (in a few months:crybaby:). It's definitely better to see things in the flesh than on a screen!

At least VAT is only 17% in the UK. It's 21% in Ireland, which means any time I go home, I never shop (although petrol is cheaper)!
