Hi missD, perhaps you can PM me instead (What is the color & ct of your main stone, baguette are good choice as side stones~!)? Yes ITA on the halo outshining the main stone effect! Especially if your main stone is not a round brilliant. Fancy cuts already shine much lesser than RB. And tiny RB melees on the halo sparkle even more like mad than normal center RB.

Especially on my previous halo setting, you can see the profile is very detaily done up, very extreme workmanship and of course the cost is expensive. Although it is very nice but it totally covered the main stone. & after some wearing, dust got in (As you can see bottom of the profile is a huge hole for you to see the underneath stone which is where the dust came in from and stuck on the bottom of the diamond) which makes my main stone got very dark = no life.

The main thing I change the setting was because the previous halo setting cannot sit flush with my WB which I hate. I want them to sit flush together.

My main stone is a F Ex/Ex/Ex 1ct ROUND brilliant - when it was in it's temporary solitaire setting, it was AMAZINGLY bright so when it got into the halo, the stone just didn't have the same pizzazz anymore. Granted it's still a beautiful halo ring as a whole, but I wanted to see more of my stone.

My next setting will use F or G side baguettes. I'll see what my best friend says, she's my jeweler. Here's the picture of my next setting. I love this overall structure! Plus, like you, now my ring will sit (more) flush.

missD, I knew your setting before I even need to see the pic. Yeah is nice, since your main stone is under the colorless range and is a RB, the side stone baguette step-cut definitely sparkle less than a RB and you are going for lower color on your side stones this time, so your overall look will be pretty much emphasize on the centre one. So is nice.

I forgot to ask, what's your ring size? The stones spread incredibly beautifully on your finger!!!!

How long did you have your halo? I had mine for a 1.5 years before I decided that it was time for it to go.

Thank you darling windycityaj

missD, Had my halo for a year. Didn't wear it for its last 3month after one of the melee diamond falls off and although we got it fixed, repolish + replate and got back it's shine, but I lose interest in the lack of light passing through the diamond resulting in a pretty dull diamond.

I have a relatively small finger approximately US Size3+ - 4, my Cushion center was pretty big size even though it was only 1ct (its measurement looks more towards the 1.3-1.5ct Cushion zone) and moreover I set it East-west (6.94mm), that explains even more finger coverage.

My 0.3ct each RB diamond are of relatively best proportion of a 0.3ct measurements around 4.3mm diameter each. (Some bad 0.3ct only measure 3+mm due to a thick depth).

I intialy wanna do a 5-stone but the jeweler and my FI shot a look to me like 'How is it going to fit on your finger? Your finger is not wide enough for 5-stone.' LOL. No choice did a 3-stone one and love love love it much more. More than 5-stone as I guess 3-stone still look like an E-ring, delicate and simple. But 5-stone look more like a WB? I don't know - JMHO... Hehe..

Good luck in your reset. I feel bad my FI spent so much on the last halo setting and still have to pay for the new setting side diamonds here (our retail chain diamond in my country are hell LOTS more expensive, a 0.3ct here can buy a 0.8ct on many of the online diamond stores). MOREOVER, it was just one year wearing of the old setting, and I haven even marry myself to him but he has to splurge on another thing.. LOL. You know Chinese wedding the groom already has to spend super duber much etc due to traditions. And now add in more expenses to him.

LOL. But most importantly I like and LOVE my new one. Never did I once regret throwing the halo alway. My FI is right, simplicity is the best.. Really FOCUS on the main diamond...

Funny!!!! My small melee diamond fell out too - just over 2 weeks ago! That's what made me MUCH MORE eager to switch settings!

You are right when it comes to e-rings, I completely agree that simplicity is THE BEST.
