I am not a big customer at Tiffany, only a few pieces. But every time I purchased from them, I was treated very nicely by the SAs there. They offered to transfer brand new item (Tiffany rose gold diamond key) instead of selling me the display one. I use their consession in Harrods, London. Not big ticket item like e-ring or anything though.

I've walked into the Sydney store three times, each to get a present for someone. Not once have I ever walked out with anything. Their staff are rude, it takes me an age to even catch someone's attention, who then assumes that because I am younger, I cannot afford anything, even when I am in the sterling silver level, and frankly, their products are overpriced. I'd love a key, and I may have a look at Melbourne and see if their service is better, but at this rate, I'm completely out of love with them compared to my initial willingness to purchase. Had I experienced a positive first visit, I'd probably be much more willing to revisit and buy more, but clearly they don't want my business, and that's fine. I ended up getting pieces for my friends that they loved, from other jewellers, who provided me with wonderful shopping experiences.

That being said, I find customer service in Sydney just a bit lacking in general. Slack to say, but truthful. I've found few sales associates who are genuinely helpful and provide the service I expect, and I work in retail part time, so I think I do have a reasonable idea of what should be provided.

Your experiences sound really bad, i would be traumatized.

My personal experience at my local Tiffany Store is completely different. I get greeted warmly by the warmest door attendant & attentive warm reception by my lovey super accommodating sales associates. It helps that I always call ahead to say I'm visiting. I have bought returned & exchanged items countless times as I am fickle. You can say I can be a nightmare with my back & forth. She will always clean & inspect my Tiffany or non Tiffany jewelleries while i relax browse & enjoy my fav Perrier.

Her colleagues, including the store supervisor, manager & at times sales director will also come by to say hello.

Same here. They've always been very nice to me, even if I was just browsing and didn't buy anything.

The tiffany customer service experience really seems to vary. They have always been lovely to me and I by no means buy big ticket items there. Mostly just small silver things actually, but they are always patient and helpful, suggesting options, etc. If you are in Toronto, go to the yorkdale location. They are super.

The melb store is gorgeous. Cute doormen too!! A few of the SA are really sweet too. Esp a young girl Stephanie.

I disagree. Your sister was not rude. After what she went thru with this ring, she had every right to tell the Tiffany SA they will not be back. I would have taken the refund and said the same thing..

Thank you for your opinion. :smile1: It just comes down to me and my sister are 2 different people. Sooo i don't dare raise it any more;)

+1

I'm also in the UK and have visited the Selfridges and Harrods concession store, as well as Old Bond Street flagship store.

I've found all of the service to be great, though sometimes if it is busy, I do have to wait a tad bit. However, I've never felt I've been ignored and my requests to see items are always treated nicely.

From the sounds of it, the US and Australian Tiffany stores do not have great SAs!

I for one would not be happy with how much time wasted over the ring issue - I'm a low maintenance girl re jewellery so would be very fed up with having to baby the ring, keep checking if the stone is loose or not, and then return to store for solution.

Honestly I've had NOTHING but lovely experiences with Tiffany's!! Like insanely nice. I frequent two locations in Toronto and have sales associates there who are happy to bring in anything from a $120 piece to sourcing a soleste pendant in white diamond from the UK and bringing ti over for me at the drop of a hat! I've changed my mind about anniversary bands that are already sized for me and gotten a refund... I've returned things from WAY past the return date and gotten refunds ... I've had the upgrade policy extended and bent twice (and well they should - I'm buying bigger they should always allow that!)... been given the US price in Canada on larger items... honestly lovely people!! I had one bracelet break that I bought on ebay and they fixed it for free, no questions!

Also everything I've bought (knock on wood) has been very very well made and taken 3 kids and a dog kind of abuse daily (DBTY, E-ring/wedding band/etc) and have never had a problem with any of them! I'm kind of shocked at how strong their tiny chains are! (again - knocking knocking!!

I think at that point I would have wanted a refund too though probably just out of frustration. When you pay that much for a ring from Tiffany's it just shouldn't break. If my ring broke twice I would ask for a whole new ring to be made by them (b/c I looooove my Tiffany's ring!) ... but if I didn't love it I would ask for a refund. I agree though, after getting my money back I don't think there's any reason to be rude. It's definitely not the sales associate's fault it broke and honestly she probably doesn't care that much if they come back or not either in the big scheme of things so better to rise above. Even BMW makes lemons sometimes... something must have happened when it was being made and it just never set right. I bang my classic solitaire around horribly and it never breaks!

The ring you're describing DOES sound more like a cocktail ring to me (I tried one on the other day!) and I wouldn't wear it for everyday either. In fact I tried a purple/blue tourmaline on and the SA specifically said it was a soft stone and not for everyday abuse. But the prongs should be strong.

Well at least she can take the money now and run and buy something else!! :) yay! But I think in the end Tiffany's did the right thing and I wouldn't hold it against them too much!
