Ode to the Victoria

I came across the Victoria Elan quite by accident recently and brought it home as an experiment in Tosca more than anything else. Since then I am flat out head-over-heels smitten. As a shoulder bag it fits beautifully under the arm but as a handbag it works well too. The straps are not so long as to be a problem when over the wrist or carried in the hand. The zip top is useful both for security (I travel a lot) and for practicality (when slamming on the brakes is necessary).

Does anybody else have crystal-clear bag memories from decades past? Anybody besides me, I mean? I clearly remember the first bag I ever purchased -- an orange patent leather shoulder bag. I was six. In high school was another memorable bag that I have often wished could be replicated, and the Victoria Elan comes very, very close. The east-west orientation always works for me, the zip top, shoulder-able straps, and not too deep. My high school version was a merlot color (raisin-ish) and will always be a fond memory.

At this point my little Victoria Elan collection is getting a lot more air time than anything else. Too dark at the moment, but when I get a chance in the daylight I'll post some pics.

I am at the moment your RC quadruplet! Its still safely sleeping in the original Orange H box, I am still swaying between exchanging to Etoupe.....can't make up my mind. If Etoupe comes into my local store within 2.5 months, I want to try both of them and pick up whichever my heart says. RC is truly beautiful, its just me whose not sure.

congrats Julide! and that is one GIANT bombay there... a 50?

honhon, i'd say no to Etoupe. It's too safe a colour for a victoria. RC is much more fun.

Jadeite:flowers:It is a big Bombay,:laugh:but not that big!! It's a 37 high!! Love that bag!!! I just need it in another colour....:p

Hi all. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but i need some expert advice here.

This bag is at a reseller & i had to blur the image to cover the shop's name. I'm very interested to get it but i have a question - what style is this victoria? It measures 40x28x7.5cm & has short handles, which makes it look like a briefcase. Has hermes ever had such design?

It's barenia/toile combo & has an "O" stamp. Thanks in advance!
