Update...I've got good news and bad news that led to more good news.
Bottom line, up front:
1) The good news is, I finally got my Kelly Double Tour.
2) The bad news is, I cannot wear the regular leather KDTs.
3) The more good news is I filled the regular leather void with a piece I never thought I would like.
The story: I think I visited Hermes about five times over the last month...plus stalking H.com for new Precious'. I was super interested in the Kelly Double Tours. I feel they are the perfect combination of elegance and chic for outfits, without trying too hard.
One of my wrists is 6", the other is almost 6". I like my leather bracelets to fit almost perfect. As in, there is no room to fit a finger between the band, but it does not cut off circulation. It only moves a couple of centimeters in either direction. That's perfect to me for leather.
Regular Leather (Epsom?)
Regular leather Epsom fits me annoyingly loose in the size small, S; and *super tight* with the size extra small, XS. I came to the sad realization that regular leather Kelly Double Tours will not fit unless I want to jerry-rig the larger bracelets or just go all "bangle" like a rebel. Even though I've read the XS would stretch over time, I consider expensive pieces just like new shoes. No matter how sweet, sexy and sophisticated it is, if it's not comfortable in the store, DON'T BUY IT. When the SA tried to fit me with the XS, he dejectedly shook his head as well.
So in my sad resolve, I put back the regular leathers...and moved on.
Exotic Leathers
I've only seen this with the alligator leather, but as stated numerous times on tPF, the exotics run smaller than the regular leather. I found a few Small sized KDTs, but none that really made me turn my eye until my SA told me about a KDT in Saffron. I asked to put it on hold for my next visit.
The good news is that even though I couldn't fit the regular KDTs, I still walked out with a new Saffron Alligator Kelly Double Tour in Size Small! For info, even the Medium exotic KDTs fit me more comfortably than the regular leathers. They were still loose...just more comfortable--I can't explain it.
The "more" good news, I found a Collier de Chien that I love! I knew for a fact that I would not be wearing a dog collar on my arm...but we all know what happens when we swear off pieces right? Well, me anyway. FYI, the CDC is a size Small and has a few slots to fit me loose or tight. It's actually a pretty decent design for those that cannot fit the KDTs. Only thing is I know I won't be wearing the CDC as much as KDTs. It's just too big and fashion centric.
Conclusion: Okay, sorry for blabbing so long, but I hope this helps those tPF wrists that are in between sizes and unable to get to a store to try on the bracelets.
As a gift for reading all my babble, here are some photos for your viewing pleasure. Thanks!!!
