I was reading another thread and someone mentioned they had OCD over their Coach bags. So that made me curious because I have a certain amount of this as well over Coach. So I was wondering if any other ladies have this same issue and if so to what extent and what do you do about it, like what do you "live with" and where do you draw the line and return it? TIA

I am OCD about anything I spend my $ on! Especially if it's really expensive it needs to be flawless! Lol :-) I hope I'm not alone! Lol

Nope, you're not alone! Though I have been known to let a small not-too-noticeable flaw slide if the particular bag happens to be the last one and I just HAVE to have it. I'm sure that a lot of things that are noticeable to me probably aren't noticeable at all to people who aren't purse lovers/addicts.

I know right :-)

If i'm buying new from the store for full price .. It better be PERFECT! As in clean, not used, not returned!

If i'm buying from the outlet.. I have room to move based on price and what it is.

I am extremely picky and will notice even the smallest spot anywhere on the bag...I will let it go if it is a used score from ebay but if I am buying it from boutique or outlet it better be perfect LOL

I have OCD...not only about my bags, but about everything.

With my bags, I have to make sure I wash my hands before I change into new ones. And I always put the last one "to sleep" in the dustbag and place it in a particular spot. I have my bags grouped together also...sophias with sophias...poppy with poppy...etc. I prefer to have all the things inside match the bag itself. Except my wallet (which is a Parchment Gathered so it is pretty neutral.) I do change my bag and accessories every day but not my wallet. My Mom, on the other hand, will not buy a bag unless she KNOWS she can get the wallet to match. She changes it all, everyday!

I also make sure that my bag is in my car in the backseat with nothing that will touch it. If Abby (my dog) isn't riding with me somewhere, I put my bag in the passenger seat.

At a restaurant, I take the napkin and place it over the chair, or on the booth beside me, and set my purse there. If there isn't a spot for her, I will hold her in my lap and put the napkin over her!

At home, I immediately take my bag into my walk-in closet and put her on the shelf.

So yes, I guess you could say I have OCD. I am alot better than I used to be tho. I used to vacuumn my house every morning before work and actually "vaccumned myself out the door!" I would get ready to leave and vaccumn to the door and put the vaccumn in the closet by the door, close the door and go to work! Oh, and I can't have rugs with fringe...I used to "comb" the fringe constantly so it was always straight and perfect! lol

Can anyone say Crazy?

Sometimes bags are at the outlet for a reason because of defects, so they will not be perfect.

I think the expectation of perfection at the outlet is a tough one to meet, and as they are discounted from the retail price I am happy to grab the best one keep the rest of my money in my pocket and  all the way to the bank.

No bag is 100% perfect, period. Besides it's going to be used so it will not stay perfect for long.

omg thats too funny cuz my sis is that way! She used to drive us crazy ! When she would vacuum she had to be able to "SEE" the vacumm marks left on the carpet or should would get annoyed so right after she was done,we would go and run over everything she vacuumed and she would just have a fit! But now it pays off cuz shes a doctor and EVERYTHING IS SO ORGANIZED in her life...and with her purses...the same way. Me, well like others have said, if its from the FP...it has to be -fresh off the assembly table- perfect...but if its from the outlet... depending on the price, and how badly I want it...there are exceptions.

I just find it wierd that you can have a dog AND be a neat freak! (No offense intended) Doxies shed, no?

I don't have OCD about bags. I do have OCD about washing my hands, but hey, I don't get sick! And food, people would say I have OCD about what I eat. I noticed recently that it freaks me out to shop for produce on a busy grocery shopping day, and I prefer to check myself out so the cashiers don't have to touch all my food. :weird:

The purses I buy just have to be good enough (well made) and not have flaws that would be too noticable after normal use. I often tell myself "the imperfections in the leather are part of the natural beauty of the product".

I try to pick the best looking out of the bunch at the FP store, and sometimes that means taking the store display. I don't care if it has someone's dibbies all over it if it is the one I like the best. If I picked it out in person, I'm keeping it. It won't go back.

I've only returned a couple of on-line purchases because they arrived damaged or were nothing I expected from the picture (like the white sparkle leather). I don't like the outlet experience, so I won't go back there. I'll pay an ebay seller for the PITA of dealing with going to the outlet.

If I'm using a bag, and notice some minor damage/wear, I'll just fix it. As long as the hardware isn't broken, there is no reason not to fix it myself. Most repairs are pretty simple to do myself, or could easily be done by a decent cobbler. Stuff does eventually wear out. I also appreciate the way a well-loved bag conforms to me...you can't buy that in a store. Getting older, stretched out, and a bit wrinkly is just reality for all of us.

FYI--If you hit the local fabric store and get 2 long needles, beeswax, and some matching buttonhole twist, you can fix darn near anything. The local Tandy leather store has more supplies, and they can tell you how to make the bags in the first place. These were made by someone, somewhere, and can be repaired by someone that knows how to do it.

I like my bags, and try to keep them looking good, but I'm not going to go over the top to keep them in museum condition. They really are just crap-holders as far as the world is concerned. The shopping bag they come in would serve the same purpose.

I buy them because I think they are pretty and shiny and ooohhh......pretty colors...

Thank you ladies for not being to reserved to post. You work hard for your money and deserve the right to say whats ok :) I used to think it was just me but it's not. I will say that I live in a house where I am the only one Lol. I am like most of you. FP better be near perfect and Outlet has some give and take in it. You can be a neat person with a dog just ask me I know :D it just takes a lot more work!

I am not going to go as far as to say that i have "ocd" when it comes to my bags but, when we are in the car i will ask my daughter to place my bag in the back seat (3rd row away from everyone!) for protection and my daughter takes the bag and "chucks" it into the back seat hopefully landing in the back on the seat and not the floor- most of the time it does but stuff falls out. I tell her every time to please be careful and place it in the back. Her response " mom i am only eight and your bag weighs a ton be happy i can lift it"
