^^ Ken you should reconsider. I don't do the sales as a rule, but this year I went and picked up 3 small items for a very good price.
Darn I will be in NYC the week before for St Paddy's Day. Taking my DD for her SPring Break. Well probably for the best I am not big on the insanity of "THE SALE". I like the notion of service....I like to be fussed over a bit and Hermes as a rule is good for that.....

the private sale is so much fun.
last year the weather was great and the people on line were fantastic.
everyone had and invitation and so were really into hermes. yes they were organized and motivated but so nice and really helpful. i didn't really care if i found a lot to buy but i did get some very nice china.

how does one get into the private sale date/time with no invite?

You so don't want to miss the secret ceremony before the sale...you know...everyone wears hoods and spanks virgin H newbies with monogramed wooden paddles...
Just kidding...its exactly the same as the public days except you get first dibs on the same stuff the public sale gets on wednesday. They were strict with the invites last time, unless you were press or PR....average customers were one person, one invite....
A lot of RTW (M&W) from the year before, shoes, Scarves (all sizes/types), Ties, small leather goods, possibly some totes, housewares, some shawls, etc. No birkins, kellys or other popular bags.

This is several years ago - but I did purchase some RTW at what seemed to be less than 1/2 of what it was when it was in the store. I was happy!
