NYC Madison store really drives me crazy

I have had the same experience with SA's at Madison. The one I have worked with doesn't reply to voicemails or emails even though I have said if you have x in stock please let me know I will come in to buy (and I have bought). So annoying. I live near the Manhasset boutique, but as I find their stock hit or miss, I really have no choice but to shop Madison in spite of their rude and less than helpful attitude. I agree that you should speak to the SA in person but unless you get a recommendation here for a specific SA, you may end up with another SA who is just as bad. Good luck!

I disagree about Manhasset, there has been very little I have been unable to find there over the last 10 years. It may be "hit or miss" if you just walk in occasionally, but they do get good stocks, most especially on scarves and bracelets, and a good variety of bags, and if you let them know what you're looking for, their lovely SAs will call you when it arrives. Manhasset is always my first choice, and I go to Madison if I can't get it at Manhasset. If you're looking for something a bit unusual, like extensive RTW, jewelry or Men's, then of course Madison, but for most everyday H, Manhasset is fine. Also better for building SA relationships. And so easy to just pop in when you happen to be by there!!

Manhasset SAs are very easily to reach and Madison probably don't even hear your messages. And I also agree with BBC about the collection of accessories and scarves. Even their RTW is pretty good.

My experience at Madison is an out of sight, out of mind one. My SA is great, when I'm in store, and she's offered me an array of interesting (and I would say coveted) bags and CDCs. I have bought a fair amount since we started together - but she doesn't return my calls, nor does she call me - even when she receives items that she knows that I've been searching high and low for (and not highly coveted ones, either - things like shawls for instance). I've worked with someone in another state as well, and yesterday, with the help of another TPFer, I "cheated" on my Madison SA and called a third store for an item that I've been wanting. I felt badly, for a little while, but frankly, I have to look out for myself (sounds silly, I know). I'd love to give her the business, but ultimately, if I want an item and she doesn't call, I'll try to find it elsewhere. Sadly, this no longer works for leather goods - and so I'm at her mercy to some extent. I've been hunting a particular evelyne for months to no avail.

And one other thing - I've been treated with enormous respect by my SA, never badly, never with contempt - she's extraordinarily sweet - but just busy I'd guess - and calling me would mean leaving the floor (and potentially losing sales) or staying late - and I'm guessing that neither is appealing.
