1. $498 and lesser priced bags will be factory bags only and no longer sold in boutiques.

2. Less frequent floor sets

3. Less siggy and more leather (more expensive) factory bags

4. Returns must be in person and approved by store manager, the return policy we know now is soon to be eliminated

5. Boutiques will sell pinnacle bags and smalls only, lower priced lines will be factory lines

6. No more PCE

I'm not sure if all of this will take place sooner or later or at all but this is what I've heard from more than one reliable source...

WTF? What's the source of this? Most of the Legacy bags are below $498, and the Willis, and the Madison. None of the MFF bags are that level of quality.

This! My understanding is that mff bags will be much, much nicer (and much more expensive) than they are now and boutique bags will be around 1K.

This wouldn't make any sense. Looking at Coach.com, a very small portion of the bags are over $498. There are far fewer outlets than boutiques. The outlet doesn't have a permanent website available to everyone. Nothing about this makes sense.

That's the point, things are supposed to change, big time...

The mff bags are supposedly going to be nice bags, just not pinnacle quality nice like what's supposed to be in the boutiques.

It's a bitter pill for sure, if it comes true that is.

i'm sad to hear this...but things change. The market is flooded with resale bags...they are probably trying to eliminate the fact they are competing with themselves (i.e. the people who resell NWT at the TAG price - they provide the tag and the price and they never made that much money on the item, lol) it was bound to happen eventually. It makes sense to me, it won't WORK for me, but i can see why they would do it. Oh well. I will buy 1 $400 mff bag now instead of 2 or 3 outlet bags. Especially if the quality goes way up...

eta: I should have said ONLY if the quality goes WAY up. I would never spend $400 on any mff right now...but if factory quality is basically FP quality now...and Boutique will mean elevated and pinnacle...it all works out. they are just fazing out the cheapo stuff.

Hopefully, it's a good time to re-brand the outlets to a secondary line model, considering the upper management changes coming in the next 6-12 months. I don't know about the $498 price point but I think some of these concepts would really help upgrade the brand on both ends of the spectrum, and solve some QC issues too. Can't say I am surprised about the changes to return policy. The costs on that have to be astronomical.

But I'm sure the savings won't get passed on to us, either heheheheheheh...

Yes, there's been rumors of Coach upgrading their FP and outlet bags, and I think it would work to differentiate the two.. When I walk into the flagship Coach store, it's like a completely different store compared to the regular Coach store. The displays of the higher end bags is like Coach heaven, lol.

RE: returns. The manager at my outlet already has to approve all returns, I thought it was normal.

This - the FOS website would have to be available 24/7 like Coach.com is.

Maybe your store was a pilot/test store? Most wholesale changes don't happen without a pilot first in just about any business (I see it in my business all of the time, and it's completely different than handbag retail, LOL), so that would make sense.
