I am older too and I don't find the bag flashy....but as someone has already pointed out, it seems like there's some reason the bag is not connecting with you. I would consider returning and saving the money towards a different bag or get one painted by Chelsea. Those reveals on here are gorgeous. I do have a thing against metallic leather, I've never seen a regularly used bag that didn't get the shine rubbed off.

I don't find this flashy at all! I am not usually a fan of metallic leather, but this I love. I would definitely keep it and carry it with pride. I think it is very classy, would be amazing around the holiday season without being too in your face festive. I really like it. This thread actually has me considering this bag!

I love it

I really like the bag. I have a Dreamer 36 with rivets that I love. As far as the colors on the bag I wear a lot of black clothes and think this would be a little pop of color. Having said that what I ask myself is would I have paid full price for the bag. If the answer is no I know I won’t end up using it much and would return. I hope this helps. It is a lovely well made bag.

Can you put a poll up...keep or return.
I think its lovely myself....but Ive never seen or tried out a dreamer in real life so dont know how the bag feels ie size , weight , etc.
Just a lowly opinion of a handbag hoarder.

I like the regular Dreamer size, and I like the ones that have something "extra" to them. So I like this one.... I don't think it is too flashy at all, just fun.

I have this bag and absolutely love it!! I don't find it too flashy at all, more like a muted metallic compared to my other metallic bags. I think any age can carry it but you have to decide how you truly feel about it.

I would suggest you return it. It kind of sounds to me like you aren't sure and if I were you I'd save the money towards a bag you really want. You also mentioned going for more classic pieces in general, and in my opinion this isn't a classic style. It's a beautiful bag, but big bags like this aren't always in and metallics aren't always wearable either, not to mention the more colours an item has, the more difficult it is to match with different outfits. Of course none of this matters if you just LOVE the bag!

I don't find the metallic too flashy, it seems fairly muted to me and the colours aren't in your face loud. But if you're going to feel self conscious about it every time you wear it...

This might be because I'm in my twenties and my perspective is a little different, but personally that doesn't look very flashy to me. Yes, there's a fun little peek a boo going on the sides; but I think you just need to decide yourself if this is a bag you're comfortable wearing. If you're going to get use out of it, keep it. If you feel like you're going to wear it maybe just a few times, return it.

How about taking a look at your keyfob collection and see if you have something that just makes it perfect with the fob? I know sometimes adding a fob changes the look of a bag, maybe that will help you make a decision?

I am an "older woman" and do not find it flashy at all - unless you work in a law office or someplace very formal - my rule is also - if I do not absolutely love it and put all my stuff in it and cannot wait to wear it then I do not really want it. I am trying to keep a minimal amount of bags that I really, really love. So I have returned a lot of bags recently - especially from the sales - when I got my red rogue I could not wait to wear it - and thats what I kept .

My general rule of thumb is if I can't bring myself to carry a bag within a few days of purchase, then I should return it. I'm sure you can find another bag to spend the $ on

Thanks so much for your input! I have decided to keep the bag. I really like it a lot even though it is "not my usual style" but I've decided that I need to "step outside of my usual style" and I am looking forward to carrying it!

I think this bag is really pretty and different too. As a fellow, "has a lot of handbags" person, I like having something a little out of my comfort zone to carry occasionally. Enjoy it!

I don't think the style of the bag is too flashy, but I do think it is a difficult color palate to match with; I like to match my bag to my outfits though (even the hardware to my jewelry if it's possible, haha). But it is a very pretty bag and I don't see it looking too youthful. Maybe see how many of your outfits you would actually wear it with, and if for the same outfit you would choose another bag over this one.

An SA warned me about the leather on the platinum metallic dinky (also on FOS right now) wearing off after less than a year; she said some people complained and I think it's the same leather as the dreamer. I declined as I also feel handbags should last a while especially with how I treat them. I find crossgrain leather to be great for metallics, so I prefer that as I think it's more durable in the long run for metallics.

If you feel doubt I would also say return it. I think there will be other metallic bags you might like better in the future. If you change your mind I bet it will pop up on FOS?

It's not the same type of metallic leather as the dinky. The dreamer is polished pebble metallic leather and the dinky is a more delicate metallic crinkle leather. I've also heavily used the metallic dreamer as a big "mom bag" with diapers, wipes, snacks, etc. It's been drug around by sticky hands and I don't have any wear on the metallic finish yet. This and my bronze rhyder messenger are my 2 most durable metallics.

To add to the metallic comments, I have the Market Tote in metallic platinum from last Fall/Winter and it has not worn off or become dull. And I wore it for a month straight when I first got it. I think it depends on the particular bag, but the more recent metallics seem to hold up better overall.

It's a cute bag, and if you were drawn to it, keep it!

She already bought it at a great price-244 when it retailed for 650.

Oops just saw that now, sorry about that!

Ok good! Glad the metallic leather has held up!

Good for you. I have this bag and it goes with everything. As the majority of the bag is black the metallic parts don't make it too blingy IMO. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks! I showed the bag to my friend and she liked it but said "But I don't think that it's like you!" and I answered "That's the point, I want something new and different!"

Good to know that this isn't the bag that had issues with the metallic finish rubbing off - thanks! I did get it at an excellent price, I probably wouldn't have ordered it if it hadn't been sharply discounted because it is an unusual choice for me - but at a great price I can try something new and have a little fun!

I usually match the hardware on my bag to the accessories that I pick to go with the bag, like the charm and the wallet but not always. I look at what I have available and what looks best with the bag. But I have occasionally bought wallets or charms to match the bag.

And I usually select jewelry for myself that is the same color metal, like silver earrings and silver necklace, but I don't worry about exactly matching my bag to my outfit; just as long as they don't look bad together, I am okay with mixing colors and hardware.

I used to be more focused on making sure that everything matches but now I am trying to relax and move away from being "too matchy matchy!" because I think that it is unnecessary and quite honestly, I think that it makes me look kind of old and stuffy.

So here is my new Multi Metallic Colorblock Dreamer 36 Metallic (38842 V5O46) all packed and decorated and ready to go!

I have decorated her with my Black Nickel Teddy Bear Charm F87166 BLK and I am using the Rose Brass Envelope Wallet 12134 B4 RO.

Isn't she a beauty?!

I'm so glad you kept it and I think it looks awesome with the nickle teddy!

Brilliant answer! There are moments here and there when we feel we want to try something different. Sometimes it's a big style overhaul, sometimes it's a small detail like the type of bag we carry. A lot of people get trapped in the formula that they are sure works for them, but really it's a great thing to lean into a new approach and see how trying a little something different can make you feel.
It's wonderful that you went a little out of your comfort zone! Enjoy that stunning bag!
PS- you got it at the perfect time as I can easily picture styled all Autumn and Winter with those colours. You'll get a lot of wear out of it immediately!

Thanks, I am wearing it today to celebrate the first day of Autumn! I like the style of the Dreamer 36. So far I've found it well-appointed and easy to organize and access - and it is not quite as heavy as some of my other bags and easy to carry!
