I ordered the Dreamer 36 Multi Metallic Colorblock bag during the recent online Coach Outlet sales. I bought it specifically because I don't have any Dreamer bags and because it is different from all of my other bags. I also thought it might be fun and festive to carry around the holidays. That is all still true, but now that I have seen it IRL I am unsure about keeping it.
I have no complaints about the bag. It is a lovely and well made bag and it arrived promptly, completely wrapped, and in pristine condition. I am not happy that they didn't include a dust bag - but other than that, everything is great.
I like a lot of things about the bag, the size is good and it has beautiful detailing. I like the large, suede-lined outer side pockets, I like the feet on the bottom, I like the wide, zip-top opening, I think that the long strap should be wider but it's okay.
I have no complaints about the price either. It retailed for $650 and I got it for $244 with free shipping. But this bag is still listed on the outlet site and it might be available for an even cheaper price in the future - but that's no sure thing.
What I am not sure about is the multi-metallic coloration of the bag. I have owned and enjoyed metallic leather bags in the past. I also own and love colorblock bags, but this bag is a bit "flashier" than my usual comfort zone. It is made of pebbled metallic leather and includes 6 different metallic color panels.
I usually don't indulge in "trendy bags" because I consider bags an investment and I want to be able to rotate and wear them for a long time. I am also an older woman and I don't want to look like I am trying too hard to be young and trendy.
But I have many, many bags, and I am not too excited about the thought of getting another blue, black, brown, tan, gray, beige, red, green, etc., bag. So if I want another bag it should probably be different. This bag is different, and so maybe I should step out of my comfort zone and keep it? On the other hand, $244 is still a lot of money and if I am not going to use it much, then I shouldn't keep it. I can save the money for the next bag that I absolutely love without doubts.
My usual rule is "if you have doubts return it!" but I'm not sure about this one. I have posted pics of the bag here and in the next message; let me know your opinions. I took the pics with and without flash so you can see how it looks in different lighting, thanks!
