Hello everyone!
I am facing a big problem with my monogram Noe. Around two months ago I noticed a small black dot appearing in the front of the bag, in the vachetta leather. I didn’t pay much attention at that time, and kept using the bag some days a week. Today when I got the bag again, the black spots had spreaded and are in a big number now! I am suspecting of mold or bacteria, but I am afraid of needing to replace the bottom of the bag! I atravhed a photo for you to help me diagnose the problem!

Remove surface mold with damp cloth (mold will wipe off if the leather has been dried out completely). Allow leather to dry completly for a second time. Clean dried leather thoroughly with leather cleaner or a VERY mild soap (like baby shampoo).Oct 2, 2017

I tried using leather cleaner but it seems kind of “deep”... even after cleaning, the spots didn’t disappear. I am so anxious about that :(

Any ideas???

If it’s not wiping off, it must be coming from the other side of the leather. Do you see anything on the inside of the bag? It is probably growing in between the vachetta and canvas. I don’t know if you can fix that without taking the bag apart.

I had mould like this on a Trouville that I purchased from Japan. It looked like poor storage practices caused it. I was able to use a magic eraser (without embedded cleaner) to very carefully remove the mould then I moisturized the leather after. Can’t tell where it used to be anymore. If you do end up trying I would recommend patch testing a mould spot in a not so noticeable place and go VERY slowly. I tend to be quite adventurous when fixing up preloved bags so wasn’t too concerned it would turn out badly (vachetta can be replaced after all)

No! I am currently living in Boston, USA.

Yes, looks like mold and after the summer we had in Boston last year, I’m not totally surprised. I would try some of the methods for removing before replacing the bottom imo. If it ruins it for you, then you can replace it and at least say you tried? GL!!

Do you know the name and brand of the pen you used? I think I may try it before changing the bottom at the store.

I can't see anything inside the bag, but I agree that it is probably growing between the vachetta and canvas. I just received a call from the LV repair specialist saying that the whole bottom will need to be replaced!!! Can't believe!:sad:
