Aha yes Argento was the coloured bag I saw floating across the web @V0N1B2! Does Bottega ever have some pieces in their stock from previous seasons or are they usually sold out? I’m wondering how hard it’ll be to track down a metallic Nodini

they are fewer in general, and usually they are popular, so they sell during the season, so i really doubt they will be still available in the outlets.
the ones that show up in the secondary market might have signs of wear, as metallic is the finish on top of the leather, it might wear off after regular use, e.g. my silver Nodini has silver finish worn off on the inner side of the strap that is touching my skin and clothes., nothing major, it's not visible, but it's there

I bought a nodini a number of years ago and didn't love it. I sold it probably for a fraction of what I paid- I don't remember.

Recently, I purchased another to use as a travel/ touring bag. I previously used the Chanel WOC but the chain started to bother my shoulder. Used the nodini once and I am back to the WOC. The nodini is just a little to in between in size and the strap too fussy if I want to make it short enough for shoulder carry. I will keep it for now and hopefully use it.

I really admire those who know their style and what will work for them. Sadly, I am not one of them. I make mistakes and when I do I would like to recoup a decent amount of what I spent. Gone are the days when I think I will get my money back on anything and that's ok. I don't buy bags to make money and I am always sure when I buy that it will work out but time has taught me that it might not.

Good luck with your decision and hth.

They are seasonal releases. The Nodini Messenger was only ever available in Argento, Brunito, Rose Gold, a silver - maybe Antique Silver?, I think metallic Bluette? there might have been a bright gold done?

Older (80s & 90s era) BV bags got shinier, mostly due to the patina of the leather, but I have not seen a lot of patina on the majority of Nappa bags produced after 2003.

The Nodini Messenger Bag has been around 9 or 10 years in its most recent iteration. There was a similar looking bag done back in the 70s or 80s. Who knows if the new Creative Director will keep it. Louis Vuitton has been around 160+ years, Bottega Veneta, 50-something.
I’d wager that 95% of people have never even heard of Bottega Veneta. If you’re looking for something with brand history and recognition, you might want to go with Chanel, LV or Hermes.
You might not have agreed with @grietje ’s post, but I’d say she probably speaks for everyone on this subforum in that we all buy and carry Bottega Veneta because we like the look and feel of their bags. I doubt any of us care the slightest if someone recognizes the brand or knows the history. I think her point, and everyone else’s was simply this: buy what you like. Buy what suits you and your lifestyle, but don’t expect to get more than 50% of your money back when you’re bored with it in a year.
totally agree

What do you guys think of the BV Nodini as a first everyday investment bag?
I would never encourage anyone to buy a leather handbag as an investment. I do not mean to sound snarky at all. With very few exceptions you can never get full price back on a used handbag, unless you got lucky and bought one of the premier designer bags years ago before the prices all went sky high. So buy what you love and can afford, use it with NO fears that it will get a mark on it, because it will, and wear it out. Good luck.
