Will Nicole Kidman Win the Oscars in 2014?
Back in 1954, Grace Kelly won the Academy award for "The Country Girl," and this year Nicole Kidman, who portrays the movie star-turned-princess in "Grace of Monaco" could win it for the second time. .
Kidman won the Oscar for the 'Best Actress in a Leading Role' last time for "The Hours" in 2002. She was the first Australian actress to win the coveted award. Even though she was nominated in 2010 for "Rabbit Hole", she lost it to Natalie Portman who won it for "Black Swan".
"Grace of Monaco" is a biopic on Grace Kelly, the American actress who got married to Prince Rainier III and became the Princess of Monaco. Directed by Olivier Dahan, the movie is slated for release in November 2013.
The film has already been disapproved of by Grace Kelly's children. They believed that the subject is historically inaccurate and needlessly glamorised. They refuse to call this a biographical portrayal of their mother. On the other hand, the controversy involved with the film is not enough to belittle the intensity Kidman has put in while portraying the character. This performance has apparently given her a strong opportunity not only to get an Oscar nomination but to win it as well.
She told Le Figaro that the film might not be considered as a biopic of Grace Kelly as it dealt with just a brief period of Kelly's life. It was the time when Kelly exposed her weaknesses, fears and humanity as well.
Kidman was, however, apparently more impressed with the magnetic personality of the director while working on the character. She loved the time she spent in France while the production process continued for the film. The character of Grace Kelly has a striking similarity with Kidman's, as Kelly left her acting career to embrace the love of her life and become Princess Grace of Monaco.
Kidman is expected to face a tough competition at the Oscars from Naomi Watts (Princess Di) and Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine).

Nicole Kidman is pressing charges against a paparazzo who crashed into her on a bicycle, knocking her to the ground.
Nicole had just left the Calvin Klein show for New York's Fashion Week and was returning to the Carlyle Hotel. As she walked toward the entrance, a freelance photog named Carl Wu was roaring toward her on his bike.
Witnesses tell TMZ ... as Wu got dangerously close to Nicole, he appeared to hit his brakes, but it didn't do the trick. He slammed into her and she went crashing to the ground.
A photog who was there tells TMZ ... Nicole was furious and said she wanted to press charges against Wu. Nicole called the cops, and they're on the way right now.
Wu is a notorious photog who has had run-ins with other celebs, including Lada Gaga. There's actually a Tumblr account called, "F**k You Carl Wu."
As for Nicole ... no word on whether she's injured.

Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara hit the carpet while attending the Calvin Klein Collection post fashion show party held during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014 on Thursday (September 12) at Spring Studios in New York City.
The ladies were joined at the show by designer Francisco Costa.
Earlier in the day, Nicole and Rooney sat in the front row together at the fashion labels show.
