Nick Hogan threw himself at the mercy of the judge today in Tampa in his felony reckless driving case -- and he got some. Nick was sentenced to eight months in jail and Judge Philip Federico added five years' probation and 500 hours community service to his punishment as well, and yanked his license for three years

wow. he never sat down with his friends family to apologize?? omg, he should have been on his knees from the beginning.

Well, looks like he'll have eight months to think about it. good.

I am appalled at him for not admitting guilt in this case (because of the upcoming civil case) The Grazianos are rightfully suing the Bolleas(sp?) because their son requires round the clock medical care now. This asswipe Nick refused to admit guilt because of the repercussions it would have on the civil case!? DISGUSTING, absolutely disgusting

wow this was all over the news here today before the trial after the trial it was a mess! well, shame on him for not apologising to the guy's family..

I watched the stream too... It's not much, but at least it's something.. and it's better than Nicole Richie's two hours or whatever it was.

Hopefully he will get a huge judgement against him in the civil case, it seems that financial damage is the only way to get the message across to some people... and at least that way the injured boy's family will be able to afford his care.

UPDATE 3:03 ET: Nick turns to the Grazianos and apologizes to them, and says he "loved John to death" and that he hasn't driven since August 26, 2007, the night of the crash

He did apologized. I feel so sorry for Johns Family, what Nick did was completly irresponsable but it was an accident. At least he will serve time in jail and didnt get away like many rich kids out there. As a mother I cant help but feel sorry for Nicks parents too.

i feel bad for him...i think that having the guilt of putting his friend in the hospital with permanent brain damage is the best punishment. i am sure he hates himself for it. i think that the punishment is fitting...he has to do lots of community service and probation. although i would have taken away his license and alcohol privilages longer.

it's just sad all the way around. I think 8 months is no walk in the park. I doubt he will serve the entire 8 though. He is going to live with this his entire life now - in or out of jail. I just hope something really good comes out of this for both families and for others out there that might be touched by it somehow. There are no winners here.
