I can't comment on the Gucci, but I had my heart set on getting a Goyard St. Louis on my recent trip to Paris and left empty handed. I was completely disappointed with it on many levels (handle drop was a bit too short, quality didn't seem up to par, didn't look as good in person, etc.).

I've been hearing about quality issues regarding Goyard lately, plus the St. Louis is so close to LV NF that I'd go for something different just for a change.

Wow! Gucci is definitely winning! They are only $50 difference so it's not really a price issue. I just love the look of the goyard but would have to order it sight unseen from Barneys. I have looked at the Gucci and like it but am afraid I'd still want a goyard

It's funny because I don't even think anyone around where I live would know what Goyard is. Whereas, LV is known everywhere. It's seen around here, but not all that common still.

Does anyone know if the goyard pouch is detachable?

How does Gucci hold up? I've never had Gucci either. I can't tell if it's fabric and leather or coated canvas and leather...

If your gut says goyard go with it. When I talk myself out of something I really want because I think something else might be more practical I usually regret.

Where are you getting it from and how is the return policy if the quality is not what you want?

I called Barneys in NYC and they said they could ship it. I left another message asking about the return policy and am still waiting on a response. She was nice and sent me the pricing and pictures of colors too. I am leaning towards the goyard I think...

Did it seem flimsy? Was it really shiny? What about it make you think the quality wasn't that great? Sorry for all the questions. It's so hard not being able to see it in person. I might add the LV Epi neverfull in black as an option, but worry epi looks dated :/

No worries! I understand...buying sight unseen is a big commitment. The canvas and lining are very thin, giving the tote zero structure...almost paper thin. I don't own any LV canvas, but have friends who do and that canvas seems sturdy. The handle drop was a bit too short for me (and I am a smaller built girl...5'3", 112 lbs) and the handles are very thin. I also didn't care for the lining...it is a light cream/off white color and seemed like it would show every mark and be hard to clean. Seems like it would make a good beach bag if the price were much lower. Such a shame too because I was convinced I was going to buy it and actually had to go to the shop twice after they were closed for a holiday the first time I went. I checked out a couple of other styles, but still didn't care for the quality of the canvas vs. the price point, so I left empty handed. Good luck deciding.
