New to PF! Would like to know sizing of Birkin

I recently made the tough decision to sell my black B35 (the one in my profile pic) because as much as the bag was beautiful and lightweight for its size, I really don't carry that much with me so it felt ridiculous carrying a big bag with next to no contents in it. I will always have a soft spot for the B35 though because it's the original and classic size. 
Instead, I recently bought my HG black B30 and think the size is perfect. Unfortunately, the bag will now be going to get spa'd as it needs a bit of work on one of the corners.
I think more than anything, the size should be dictated to two things: height and amount of contents you usually put into a bag.

I too am contemplating a B35 in Clemence in the Havane color and GHW! It’s such a spectacular looking bag! I tried it on at the store this past weekend and passed on it since I always figured I would get a size 30 but I’ve always been a big bag girl. I’m 5’6” and I haven’t been able to get the bag out of my head. It’s been 4 days now. The color was soooooo gorgeous 
. I had never seen it before and to me it was a cross between brown and burgundy. Such a beauty. What do you guys think? This would be my first Hermes bag ever and now I’m afraid the bag may have sold. I’m going to sleep on it one more night and see how I feel tomorrow, but I just can’t get it out of my head. Yeah the bag was heavy, but I’m not sure that bothers me, since I have a Chanel maxi, Chanel large shopping tote a Deauville and most of my other bags are on the bigger side. I like small bags but I just don’t know if I like the 30 size-aesthetically- on me. It could just be in my head, but I just think that bag is so much more elegant in 35. What’s your opinion? Do you think I’m crazy for wanting a 35 in Clemence? Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Oh and the bag was a little slouchy at the bottom already when the SA showed it to me and that’s to be expected with Clemence right? Thanks for your help all!

Hello! I’m chiming in because you seem to love the look on Morgan Stewart and she seems to be almost your height (she’s 5’5”.) Anyway, I am a hundred percent sure that she’s carrying a 35cm
You see, you can tell the size of a birkin by looking at its proportions. The sizes 30’s, 35’s, and 40’s handles are my basis on identifying the size. The 30’s handles often look too tall for its body, the 35’s handle’s bases are closer to the rectangular hardware where the turn lock is, and the 40’s handle’s bases are noticeably wider and the sangles tend to look farther from the base of the bag. Proportion wise, the 25 and the 35 are very much similar so, the easiest way to identify a 25 (if there’s nothing on the photo for size reference) vs a 35 is the hardware on the sangles, the 25’s are noticeably smaller/narrower than a 35’s. You will notice that the space where the turn lock goes through is smaller too

I love Havane, and passed on a Havane Kelly once that I still think about. Personally I agree that size 35 is the most elegant. Also, yes, it will slouch - check the "slouchy floppy Birkins" thread to see what to expect. I personally love a slouchy B35. I'm trying to look for a havane strap for my kelly and was wondering of asking it from my SA for a special order.

Curious to know what you decided @loveforbeauty I too am 5'6" and I have a B35 in Clemence...it is slouchy and beautiful and every time I see it, I smile. But it is heavy. Thank you. The 30B is Rouge H in Clemence leather. I bought it circa 2015. Good luck finding your perfect red!
