New Tiffany ring...to keep or not to keep?

IMO, Jean Schlumberger pieces are timeless. I don't think it's "80's" style at all. A few of the diamonds look a little dark. It may be the angle of the photo, so I would take a close look to see that the stones are all in place. I like it and would wear it. If you don't love it, however, you might want to exchange it for something else:smile1:

OMG - it is really $4600? I think that is a lot for this piece. But I suppose many people would also say that is a lot for a Cartier bracelet which I love. The only difference is I'm sure 100% that I totally love the Cartier. It sounds like you are unsure and having doubts about the ring. Personally, I think the ring is pretty but I think overpriced.

My honest opinion is that it looks dated. It reminds me of those rings that people used to buy at Service Merchandise in the early 90's.

I think for $4600, you could do better.

I hope I'm not hurting your feelings, but since you asked, just thought I'd be honest!

Here's my honest opinion about the ring itself: I think it's very '80s. There's so much beautifully designed jewelry out there for $4600, I wouldn't chose something that looked like it's been in my mom's jewelry box for the past 20 years after she picked it up at a flea market for $300.

If you've been wearing it for 2 days and haven't decided that you completely love it, you're always going to be gong back and forth about it. I say return it.

jan228, luvluxelady, divadivine682 - thank you ladies for your honesty and opinions! jan, i think you actually hit the nail on the head about it looking "80s"...it really does remind me of something from that decade! :p i am just not sure whether i like that about it. but one thing i DO like is it seems to be a piece that is not as popular, and therefore not ubiquitous or instantly recognizable as tiffany. as you can see, i'm still wavering...:shrugs:

the thing is, i sometimes find that the items (be it clothing, jewelry, shoes, bags, etc.) that i am am not IN LOVE with at first tend to grow on me over time, while pieces that i might be super excited about initially end up fading quickly from my favor. :confused1: does anyone else experience this?

thanks, ladies.. all of you are so sweet to give me your opinions, even the brutally honest ones! :amuse:

there's one detail i thought i'd throw in the loop - i got the ring from signed pieces for less than half off the retail price! it is in perfect / new condition and i paid $2150 total, MUCH less than the $4600 sticker price. i'm a jewelry newb, but i figured saving 50% off retail means i didn't lose too much investment-wise...? does that make a difference in anyone's opinion? please advise!

i have a cartier love ring and i love it too! would love to see your bracelet!

but to answer your question - i got it for less than half of the retail. i JUST posted that because i wanted everyone's opinions prior to revealing the price. i wonder if it makes a difference now knowing this?
