New ship to home vs ship to store policy?

It's Hermès, policies can always be stretched or exceptions made :shrugs: With so many new-ish customers solely after bags, there's probably a lot of inconsiderate behavior happening. Was texting with one of my US SAs last night and they said the level of entitlement and on-the-floor "scenes" in their store this week was just abominable (which is saying a lot for that particular boutique!).

I've ordered items through my sa and it always goes to the store for pickup...my last item was so big I had to drive a different car to get it and when I enquired if I can have it shipped to my house I was told it's policy they don't ship. So I guess it depends on market? I would love items sent to my home lol 🤣 but with that said...a friend of mine couldn't get the orans she wanted and they ordered it in and shipped direct to her house 🤔 so very confusing 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think there might be an easy solution if you don't want things shipped to your home and prefer to pickup in store: Why not have your SA just transfer items into your store first? Then you can go into the store, pay for them, and take them home the same day.

I send my SA a list of items I'm interested in and my SA transfers them from another store or multiple stores (as a matter of fact, my SA volunteered to do this and encouraged me to ask for whatever I wanted & told me I wasn't obligated to purchase if they didn’t work out for whatever reason). On my most recent visit to the boutique, I purchased items that were transferred from all across the country. I also turned down a few items; and some transferred items are being held until I have time to think on them; no harm, no foul.

This is just my experience, but your SA/SM may have a different outlook or way of doing business.
Just wanted to reply to your post since you quoted mine.

Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck with getting items transferred to my store as the other stores weren't willing to give up the items. I know my SA put in a lot of effort as she would keep me updated re status but it isn't an easy solution for me based on past experience. It was much easier to place an order, see it in the store, and if it didn't fit, I had the option of returning for store credit right then and there. That might not be everyone's preferred method of shopping but it is mine . I'm not going to throw a tantrum or have a fit over the new policy though. It is what it is.

Glad to hear that your SA has been successful with getting the items you're interested in transferred to your store though! Agree with your statement that everyone's miles may vary.

Yeah, I will definitely say there been times where we have encountered resistance from a store not willing to part with inventory, but those were exceptions to the rule. And there are "repeat offenders" in such that my SA would look at network inventory and see it at a specific store, then instant say "nope that store isn't even worth trying".

I have been advised by my SA that sometimes has a lot to do with what kind of "symbiotic" relationship your SM has established with the sending store's SM (some SMs play nicely, some don't)---quid pro quo, if you will.

My SA has done this^. But, if he can transfer or order from a cooperative store or the warehouse, DH and I get a choice of home or store. For a gift, I always pick the appropriate send address; for us, always the store.

I rarely ask for a transfer or order bc I prefer to simply go to the store to see what is fun; new; and, of course, in my budget. But, on the occasions that I do ask for it (oxymore champagne flutes or specific sweaters for DH that he knows will work), like @nakedmosher2of3, I’m quite sure I will keep the item. I rarely return. I’ve been fortunate in this respect. @Kimchoi12 ‘s method works for her and her SA :)

No SA has ever obligated or pressured me to purchase (mainly bc DH or i invariably end up finding something else we love more). An example is that at the Resee, the women’s RTW manager recommended a leather jacket I saw on someone else. Around the same time, at the store, SA contacted DH and me re a men’s denim jacket I wanted to try for myself. Both items were transferred in, no obligation, while I was away, so I came in a week later. No one liked either one on me (I take a poll/vote between SA, DH, and myself re fit, style, and color).

But, as it turned out, DH decided he wanted the denim jacket for himself. (We try not to buy the same item, and on men’s RTW, I give him first dibs lol) He also found two pairs of pants, a cashmere sweater with some leather trim, and a shirt. Everything evens out when we can get to the boutique; this would not have worked had my SA only been able to charge send to home.

ETA: I tend not to buy stuff that is super high demand lol, and stuff that is transferred in tends to be what the SM or SA think would work for me (request not originating with me) which may be reasons why no one has mentioned this policy to me.
