New Medium Love Bracelet

I’ve had the medium love in RG size 16 for a month and love it — the hinged closure system is different from the small love (not a fan of how the latter jiggles/clicks slightly). It feels as solid/secure as the two screw mechanism on the regular size, but more proportionate to my small JUC while still having presence on its own. Hopefully it holds up with wear! I debated waiting for a 4 diamond version, but I think I’d prefer a small RG pave love if they update the closing system.

I have 2 small love and one is very solid with no movement. The second one I bought does clicks a bit. I thought it was due to different patches or so.

Could you share more details about the difference between hinges in small love and medium love please?

Neither of my small Loves have any clicking or hinge movement, I love the mechanism. One is with diamonds about 5 years old and the other is a pave. I thought the medium used the same hinge, guess not!

i checked the pictures on website and compared. I don’t see a difference though. They look the same to me. The one moves a bit on me is also a pave. They gave me a new one after failing to fix several time and it’s still not as solid as my first one but way better.

The locking system is different. The lock on the medium love only moves 90 degree, it can’t turn all the way around, the lock prevents it from moving further than 90 degrees. To unlock, you turn counter clockwise 90 degree. On the current version of the small love bracelet, you can turn the lock all the way around even though you only need 90 degree turn to lock it. However by turning it all the way around you are actually opening the bracelet. Hope this makes sense.

I was going to say the small and pave are same, half a turn locks/unlocks.
Yes, on the small it can keep turning but it's the same mechanism... so medium just stops at the lock position?

Agree with Blinggirl74 -- I also just found a video where a YouTuber visits a Cartier SA who summarizes the differences well, around the 6:09 mark. Hope it helps.

The wiggliness of the small love probably varies between pieces, but I think every piece I've personally seen was loose enough to make small clicking noise when the halves are pushed together while closed and locked. I was told it was normal/expected, but wasn't a fan of this or how the screw can be turned indefinitely in either direction. On the medium, there are only two different positions the screw can be turned into -- open or closed. It doesn't move beyond a 90 degree range.

Thank you so much for the detailed information. I had no idea

I was told this as well by an SA which deterred me from buying the small Love. She did say if there was a problem with the hinge, I would end up paying for the fix as well.

I’m curious though, do you find the hinge side for your new Medium love troublesome? It has sharp corners along the gap (hinge side) when I looked at it. The lock side was nice and had no visible gap though. But I was wondering if those corners on the hinge side would accidentally cut something or get caught on a sweater. Maybe Cartier will round it off somehow with newer versions.

The small is great IF you know how to lock it. My friend did not and it kept falling off and they still "fixed" it for her after 3 years, free of charge. I love her but she was the problem lol
They took good care fo her.

Was it because she wouldn’t turn the screw all the way into the horizontal lock position?

It is nice to know on the new medium that the lock and unlock only has 2 positions whereas the small is a 360’ degree turn.

It feels like a tiny rough spot more than a sharp point when I run a finger over the gap, I can't really imagine it snagging a sweater but I think it caught my hair once (at an odd angle, since I wear it with the hinge facing away from me).
